That makes BC a lame duck. I wouldn't want him running my 2018 draft if the plan is to oust him in 2019.

I was referring to players not the GM. i.e., Lebron, George or Leonard weren't going to become 76ers this year anyway. But they definitely won't if this remains unresolved for too long!

It is ridiculous that the Sixers management hasnt fixed this yet. There is no way that Colangelo should still be with this team, especially in a leadership role. They will need time to get a new GM in place and "active" and they are just wasting valuable time that they don't have to waste at this point.

I agree 100%. It doesn't really matter what member of the Colangelo family did it...they all need to be gone.

Perhaps they are quietly working on a deal to get that done while also naming a replacement with the draft coming.

The Sixers need to start vocally complaining about the Commish if this is true. He is the one that supposedly got them into this mess but forcing the family on them.

A simple firing announcement would be better to "end the story" then dragging it on like this. Where is Stern when we need him?

I guess the sixers are heck bent on dragging this out...they are now hiring an outside investigation firm to look in to the accounts. Are they concerned about a lawsuit?

Like I said I have seen both quotes and columnists suggesting the possibility. If they can't get the FA they want, that they might not care to trade for Leonard if he (and others) can just be signed for next year. Anyway moot for now until someone (even an interim) takes the reins.

As bad as this delay might be, let's not lose sight of the fact that the Sixers not being run by the Colangelos is ultimately probably a good thing (unless the real problem is ownership, in which case it doesn't matter anyway).

It very well may be ownership.

They are very good sales people, but don't seem to know a thing about running an NBA franchise. Ultimately, they have gone through 5 "regimes" since taking over the team, the only one of which seemed to be working out (Hinkie), they were pressured into forcing out. All the "good" associated with the organization has been his work. The sooner these guys sell, the better.

Well, I'm willing to ignore 2011-2012. They were dealing with what they inherited. To my mind that includes DiLeo. So they've done one good thing and one bad thing, and some of the problems they had during Hinkie's tenure were definitely his. I prefer the high-tech Wall Street data guys to the eccentric billionaire or Comcast, for the most part.

I think the important thing is that Brown is still here (he's the only coach this ownership has ever hired). And this is a good sign:

We know Hinkie isn't coming back but the new GM should come from the same Popovich or Morey family tree. And the Popovich family tree is also the Larry Brown family tree.
