A couple of small notes as the Sixers head into a very important offseason.
It was announced that the Sixers will exercise the option on TJ McConnell's contract, he will earn 1.6 Million next year. I suppose they will do the same for Richaun Holmes who is in the same point of his contract as McConnell.
Colangelo also said the it is likely that stash pick, forward Johah Bolden will likely join the Sixers next year.
The NBA Draft lottery is on Tuesday night (May 15). The Sixers (via the Lakers pick) are currently sitting at 10th, pre-lottery. The Sixers also have their own pick, which figures to be around 26th. The Sixers actually have the most draft picks this year with six (they have four 2nd round picks), so expect to see some trades.
Sixers Free Agents: JJ Redick, Amir Johnson, Marco Belinilli, Ersan Ilyasova
All four free agents have stated they would like to return. Free Agency begins July 1st.
Brett Brown said in his exit press conference that the Sixers need to add a "high level free agent" in order to win a championship. Without saying the words "LeBron James", he basically intimated that is who he was talking about, even going so far as to talk about how another ball handler would work with Simmons, confirming, they would make it work.
Colangelo is quoted on wanting to work on an extension for Brown, who will be in the last year of his contract.
Sixers assistant coach Lloyd Pierce has taken the head coaching job for the Hawks. No replacement has been named, bu a name floated is former Hornets coach Steve Clifford who has ties with Brown.
