LeBron on a 3+1 deal to the Lakers, $154 M.

I really don't think Kawhi is a good deal now--too likely he tries to join LeBron in LA after the season.

In regards to Leonard’s contract, the Sixers believe he’ll seriously consider picking up his player option or re-signing with them via free agency next summer.

Article says the Spurs want Saric, Covington and three first-rounders, and they claim to have an offer they like better than the Sixers' offer (which is those two players and one first-rounder). Article notes Fultz is still supposedly untouchable but speculates the Spurs might like Zaire Smith.

I want to be mad about Lebron but it doesn't seem to me like he made a basketball decision. He went to the same division as the best team in the NBA and I'm not sure what they can put together that will make them better than the warriors.

Lakers have almost no leverage...The team as it is currently is a 4 seed? maybe?

Honestly, I think he went to the Lakers because it is LA and he has aspirations for a media future after Basketball (whatever that might look like). I am purely guessing, but that is my take.

What is weird to me is the Lakers have a few players that he just forced Cleveland to trade because he didnt think he could win with them. Now they are back together, something tells me LeBron isnt done being pseudo-GM.

This is really the 2nd best thing that could have happened to the Sixers. The Eastern Conference is wide open now with Cleveland now dropping to the bottom. Boston, Toronto and Philly are the contenders, and we have the most upside (although some guys have some things to prove). I think Boston is still better, but it is close and we have a ton of cap space.

The Lakers 1st rounder there is almost worthless, I wouldnt take that back if we are losing the Miami one.

Honestly, I dont see why the Sixers would do it, we are trading away more than we are getting. Saric and Fultz have a ton of value, Covington less and that 1st round pick will almost certainly be very high. Ingram and Kuzma have value of course, but I am not sure we are getting enough back to help the Lakers and SA this much.

I wouldn't sleep on Hart either...he is the type of shooter the sixers could use off of the bench.

Kuzma and Saric are a wash IMO.

It's an odd trade and even with Leonard ending up in LA it still seems like they are not talented enough.

That means we're looking for a couple of other shooters in FA. Love to get Evans. Evans plus a back-up center (O'Quinn?) is as good as Boston if Simmons and Embiid get better, too. If Fultz gets his shot look out Western Conference champs...

Honestly this makes me happy. I'd be almost as happy as getting LeBron if we get Evans + O'Quinn, and maybe Ellington. Can we afford that?

Quality signing, but that is alot of our available cash. I assume this was done when they figured out that Kawhi was "out" (which I think we already knew). Hopefully we can add a few solid veteran pieces, but it doesnt look like there is going to be a big "step" jump in the team. (I never really thought there would be).

I agree with PC, Evans would be a great add.

I don't know what the exact rule is, but at some point we're allowed to make signings over the cap. I think we could get Evans, O'Quinn, and Ellington. I'm not sure we could fit them all on the roster...I think we'd have to trade one of Anderson/TLC/Korkmaz for draft picks to get roster space.

Right now we have

Simmons/TJ/Shake/Shamet
Fultz/JJ/Korkmaz/Bayless?
Cov/TLC/Smith/Anderson
Dario/Holmes
Embiid/Bolden

That's 16 guys. If we sign another wing that's an extremely bad omen for Korkmaz and/or TLC. I think those guys will eventually be rotation-type players, but the time for them to work things out in Philly may be over. I hope Brett has a better handle on their development than I do!

He has been a general sports columnist for several years now. Covers the Eagles plenty too. For sure, he's always strongest on baseball. And you don't see him writing an actual story about this.

I gotta say, and I think it's somewhere upthread, I always kind of figured the Sixers were going to go 0 for 3 on this group, even before the Colangelo thing. He even said so himself, and one of the stories today referenced that (and the fact that Brown seemed to take exception at the time). Kind of ironic that there's nobody to blame/be mad at, whereas if Colangelo was still here (sans the Twitter scandal) he'd be absorbing heavy blows. At least it doesn't feel like the drama really hurt their chances one way or another, LeBron was probably always gonna do that and Leonard is still a choice they can make either way.
