It just seems a shame that the Phillies are letting themselves be financially hamstrung by the very guaranteed player salaries they want to replace, i.e. VV/Moore/Anderson/Kintzler. Or Herrera/Didi if they were serious about pursuing a position player.
I suppose they deliberately did not want to include Vince or Anderson in the Rangers deal (instead of taking the cash) because they figure they still need the bodies.
