But you also have to give to get. Especially if they are desperate/overvaluing Gibson and Kennedy (or just overvaluing the CBT space).
Also clearly a seller's market, especially this close to the end! Would we have rather paid the price for Berrios?
No they did not ask for Abel. They said what type of players they wanted. But never discussed Abel.
Source indicating the other two prospects in the Gibson/Kennedy deal are two High-A RHPs. Working to confirm, but either way, Spencer Howard is the centerpiece.— Levi Weaver ( @ThreeTwoEephus ) July 30, 2021

See my comment in the trade thread. I wonder if the Phillies just don't think his body can handle the role of a high velocity starter. It has been a long time since that Lakewood playoff run since we have actually seen him do it for more than a handful of games or innings at a time.
This deal still have Vince Velasquez and Matt Moore in the rotation! It doesn't solve anything!— Matt Winkelman ( @Matt_Winkelman ) July 30, 2021

Well that assumes Eflin is not pitching. And if that happens we probably are not winning anyway.
Sounds like Dom Pimpkin from Lakewood is in the deal. Not confirmed
That would be bad. Borderline top 10 for me.
I feel like they dipped the toe in so they might as well make another trade for a centerfielder or another pitcher.
They said high A relievers, not starters...
Everybody is a tandem these days, so who knows how some stringer is going to describe minor league prospects they have never heard of.
Pipkin would be way too hitgh a price, and shake my confidence in Dombrowski substantially.
Guy from Texas says its Kevin Gowdy and Josh Gessner
Sorry everyone I got that wrong Pimpkin is not in the deal. He was earlier. Sounds like its Gowdy
Hate to give up on Gowdy but much rather aeither of those guys than Pipkin.

True. What's a starter anymore?
Wait we also got Hans Crouse.. #73 ranked prospect preseason
I guess I am more OK with that. Gowdy is a longshot and if he ever becomes good enough he might not have options left. Gessner hurts more, but he is a low 90s guy in his 3rd year on a slow track. Always thought he was overpriced because it was a "use it or lose it" situation with our international bonus pool.
