When he was filling in for Didi he was a clear upgrade, and still would be. Filling in for Bohm, like you say, it's a lot closer (but only if Bohm continues to hit like he has since June).
All of it really just highlights how badly we could still use another bat, and how perfect Bryant would be if you don't go get a pure CF.
IMO it also highlights that Didi, Hoskins and Bohm can't all be here next year.
I don't remember the offense being any more fun to watch last year, even though it was more productive in that smaller sample. We're 13th in runs scored, 14th in OPS - firmly middle of the pack which I guess is the definition of inconsistent (much like a .500 team). Last year, 5th in runs, 7th in OPS, so if you had last year's offense and this year's pitching, things would be great. If there wasn't so much money tied up in the offense I would think they'd be more focused on fixing that.
I believe the BA with RISP has dropped from 10th or 11th to 19th just in the past week.
