Listening to the this morning's eulogies for Steve Jobs on the a.m. "news" shows was stunning for me. There was Jobs talking about being bold and being willing to take a chance. That attitude made Apple the number one corporation in the world with $14 billion in profits in 2010. Then in the next segment on the "news", we see the fear mongering cowards in our national government who can't seem to grasp that anything needs to/can be done to shake the economy out of its doldrums. This nation needs an injection of the Jobs' philosophy and approach in many areas.

What does this mean? That, if there is a more profitable corporation it isn't the most profitable? Or that it wasn't very profitable? In the first case - so what? In the second case, what profit statements are you looking at? They are having record profits as we type.

I was referring to the comment that they were the #1 corporation in the world. Didn't mean to imply they didn't make profits. Sorry to offend.

Apple was #8 in the US in 2010 with $14B in profit.

At one point they had more cash reserves than the US Treasury and had a higher (I forget...stock price? market cap?) than ExxonMobil.

One more Jobs comment:

Almost as exciting as a great sporting event were Jobs early Apple keynotes. I was in the audience for two of those immediately after he returned to Apple following Scully's departure, and it was as electric as a championship fight.
