Ariel Sharon, former Israeli Prime Minister, dead at 85
RIP Professor. Ginger and Mary Ann only ones left.
Also in the same link KF is the death of Sherwood Schwartz, creator of The Brady Bunch and Gilligans Island.
Yea, that was confusing. Schwartz actually died a couple years ago (2011 I believe). I guess they just included the link because the two are of interest to a specific group of people.
yeah,. I just noticed that. VERY strange that they listed his death in the same article....
Tom Gola
Philadelphia has lost quite a man here. He truly cared enough about the city to try to make it a better place in many ways. A sad day.
Pete Seeger
Gola was THE best college basketball player of his time. I remember riding the H bus on my way to school and Tom Gola would get on at 5th and Lindley on his way to LaSalle- totally unpretentious and unassuming. Don't know that there are too many of his kind anymore.
Award-winning Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead in Manhattan Apartment
Just woke to the news. A terrible loss to the film and theatrical community. His performances in 'State and Main' and 'Almost Famous' are favourites of mine. RIP

Maximilian Schell died in Austria on Saturday after a short illness. His performance in Judgement at Nuremberg was award winning.
Hoffman was horribly young to die. Fantastic actor. Will be missed.
This may sound trite, but he did this to himself...I mean, he was found dead with a needle in his arm, heroin + prescription drugs in his room. Yes, addiction is a disease, but it's one of his own making.
With some people there are no cures for their illnesses. Hoffman went through re-hab on several occasions. It just didn't take for him. Regarding his making his own disease, it may not be as simple as that. Some people are more predisposed to addiction than others due to their physiological make up. None the less, his loss is a tragedy.
50 full bags and 20 empty bags found with Hoffman's body. Sad, on a number of levels.
Actor, Richard Bull from Little House on the Prairie Dies at 89
Hall of Fame Outfielder Ralph Kiner died at the age of 91.
I never saw him play but I spent many days listening to his Met's broadcasts, he was one of my all time favorite broadcasters.
Kiner was one of the first older generation of players I learned about because I would watch Kiner's Korner. RIP
