Actually an interesting question on the wage tax, since that would be withheld/paid by the Phillies from each paycheck. Any state or other taxes paid on road trips is probably deducted off your PA return... but only if they live in PA. Not sure if you can get any similar credits from Philadelphia.

Back in the day when I lived in NJ and worked in Philly I had to pay Philly wage tax for the days I was in the office. So if I worked from home 1 day a week, I paid wage tax on 4 days worth of work. Payroll hated it but it added up. I also was able to use the wage tax I paid as a Federal tax deduction.

My assumption is the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, Sixers etc pay wage tax on any time they are in Philly. So if the Phillies play a 10 game home stand they are paying 10 games worth of wage tax. Now I am not sure how that works with visitors but I would assume its the same thing.

One more year and about $2.7 million more AAV than what Nola got last year. Nola is about 6 months older so was the same baseball age roughly when signing the contract.

In comparison the Nola deal is better. He has more of a healthy track record too though of course that is no guarantee.

Disappointing but that was a good haul for the white Sox. Teel is a better prospect than Miller right now, so it would have been hard for the Phils to beat that package.

The Red Sox have a track record of former White Sox star pitchers missing lots of time due to injuries: Sale, Giolito, Hendriks (who was already hurt when they got him). Dylan Cease should stay far away from here.

That's the equivalent of Ranger, Kemp and cash. I'd probably want Ranger on the roster just as much as Williams, so i guess the Phils couldn't do that deal without having a replacement lined up for Ranger.

I forgot how awful winters are when the Phils offseason approach is to see what's left over in February.

I think the prospect is a bit better than Kemp. 24 years old in AAA while Kemp is a bit older and in AA mostly. But the construct is right. I guess it is nice to see the Brewers try to compete and voting for 170 average innings over 50 good innings is probably the type of deal they should make, especially if the cash is neutral. Romano is a bit of a gamble for us, but could be 95% as good as Williams potentially (and it is not as if Williams has not had health issues either).

Feels like a smart move by the Astros. If Tucker repeats 2024 then it's probably fair but if he looks more like his 2022/23 seasons then Cubs probably overpaid
