In reality I think there's plenty of blame to go around on that one. The call, the read, the blocking, not just throwing it away immediately (assuming he didn't really have time to check down).
That last sack really was the one that would have stung had the defense not gotten it done.
If he canāt contribute as a runner, he needs to be more productive as a passer. But the ball may need to come out quicker, whether thatās on him or on Moore. Hurts canāt get sacked for a safety as he did after his return from injury. Center Cam Jurgens got beat, but Hurts also had Goedert open over the middle on a check down.
But did it make sense to have him take a five-step drop into the end zone? And after the Eagles just needed a few first downs to close out of the game, was it wise to roll Hurts out on a naked bootleg in which he took a seventh and final sack?
āWe did what we thought we needed to do in that particular case,ā Sirianni said. āAgain, weāll always look at play calls. Itās everything. Itās going to be play calls. Itās going to be that the defense made a play. There are a lot of things to attribute to that.ā
Asked about the calls whenever the Eagles were backed up, Hurts said, āThat might be a Kellen or Nick question.ā
