You missed the point. If Hurts is out, then the season is likely over. Pickett isn't exactly Foles and this is a better team.

Hurt's injury was just a concussion, correct? He should be back in 1-2 weeks.

If you treat this like the preseaon.... because the Eagles have very little from winning out, then the backups get playing time against playoff vying starters and still get tested first stringers going into the playoffs. Plus, the starters get rested.

Even if they came up healthy, then it's probably nothing.

They still need to win the NFC East. They're all gonna play. Even Jalen if he's cleared (and if he's not and they don't need to beat the Giants he still probably plays a quarter to get snaps).

Being the top seed and not having to play a game of any kind still would have been better than half-assing/tanking/resting starters. Playing a first-round game always means it was more possible there would be an injury or injuries and playing a tough first-round game (whether because you tanked or because of the current reality) also increases that. What happened today will or would be even worse if it happens then. Whereas, 0 percent chance of injury on January 11 or 12 for the 1 seed.

Hopefully Jalen is okay enough to just miss a little time which also makes it easy - they'll win one of the next two games with or without him (and hopefully don't need to beat the Giants).

They don’t have a preseason roster size - you cannot sit all of your starters because there are not enough backups to play and the starters that do start on a weakened line up are more likely to get hurt. It’s too early to start coasting. And the eagles always start out slow in September because the starters didn’t get enough time in preseason. Coast now and they will lose in the first round. You can rest key guys in the last game and anyone banged up give them extra rest but you can’t sit everyone for a month

This is very much wrong if Hurts is not the QB. I hope that was evident today (although I am sure AJB loved the targets).

The chances of a bye were slim. The team can beat everyone in the NFC especially with the Lions being down players.

I do not understand a bit of your reasoning (or your weird confidence that they can just coast and easily win the NFC on the road followed by a Super Bowl). You play to win, you play to have the best record and home field, you play because the games still count (including for the Cowboys next week, and the fans), and now they count even more. You think Jalen believes anything other than that?

It's fine to do otherwise in Game 17 or play your back-ups in the second half or not send Saquon out there to chase a record. Also fine to consider this when the moment they were only playing for the bye came. But it has not yet.
