Excellent game for both the O and the D. Unfortunately, the team got more banged up than they have in most games, but most seem able to keep going. A great win against a very good opponent.

Yes, the bye week really matters. It gives one less chance to be eliminated and gives the players a rest and the coaches an extra week to plan against playoff opponents and self-scout.

The team is only worried about Detroit right now, right?

If Detroit wins out, then I think they still have home field. They play Minnesota the last week.

Just take a month off and brutalize them in the playoffs.

I really dislike the fact that only 1 top team gets a bye week. I wish there was a way for the top 2 like it used to be.

The Eagles get the #1 seed if the following happens: (courtesy of BGN). This means that the Vikings have to beat the Lions and they lose against CHI, SEA, or GB.).

1) The Eagles win out (at WAS, vs. DAL, vs. NYG)
2) The Lions lose at least one game (at CHI, at SF, vs. MIN)
3) The Vikings lose at least one game (vs. CHI, at SEA, vs. GB, at DET)

There is certainly an argument to be made that the bye is not worth going all-in for. If all the teams win out the winner of the Lions-Vikings is #1.

They can beat the Commanders and rest the starters against the Cowboys unless one of the other teams loses before then. Then play everyone against the Giants if it's still in play. Or not.

I'm just not a cheerful enough Eagles fan to think that a third game against the Commanders or a rematch Green Bay or LA would be a walk in the park. .

Every team in the playoffs can win if they get enough breaks. You do your best to get in and hope the breaks don't kill you.

For sure which is also why there's no point in trying to do anything other than play for the best possible seed, much like with the Phillies this last time. Would they have beaten the Braves or even done better without the bye? Who knows. We've seen it from both sides.

The fact that the Lions are so hurt doesn't make me go, "ooh, wounded prey," it makes me hope the Eagles avoid the same (and it's not like they've been immune).

a lot of important guys seemed to get banged up yesterday, definitely a concern. One turning point in the game yesterday was the ref's decision not to eject Slay & Mitchell for throwing punches. The block through the back of the endzone into the wall warranted a couple of haymakers - but if our starting CBs are ejected that might have been a different ballgame.

My worry about coasting into the playoffs - it usually didn't work for the Colts when they had Manning/Edge/Harrison and dominated the regular season, they coasted into the playoffs and looked rusty/got beat.

The refs also played against the Eagles. The pick play against Smith (?) and the Blankenship penalty were not good calls. And the TJ Watt play on the Hurts fumble was good, but players are allowed to punch people in the face to make a punch out?

If the Eagles are worried about the Commanders in the playoffs, then I guess you go all out the rest of the year. But if they are worried about them, then they might already have lost.

For whatever reason you are right about NFCE games. Every year seems to have upsets (regardless of it being a 3rd game).

Both the Packers and the Rams will be tough games, but right now it's the Eagles and the Bills as top teams (the Chefs are still in the conversation, but the team does have issues).

I am leaning towards resting the starters (that doesn't mean not playing them). I guess beating the Commanders and reevaluating makes sense.

I am sure there are Barkley records and playoff money to be taken into consideration, but Hurts pretty much just said "What else do you want us to prove?" Having a chip on your shoulder going into the playoffs isn't a bad thing.

Eagles defense now 1st in points, 1st in yards, 1st against the pass and 9th against the run. Not 1991 like, but still crazy good.

I hope we don’t lose Fangio, I suspect he is too old for a Head Coaching opportunity, but you never know. It would be nice to finally have a coordinator for a 2nd season. (Same with Kellen Moore, but I fear he might get poached)

Yeah he's not going anywhere, he's so happy to be back in PA. The only next job he could theoretically have is Nick's. Barring that I'm sure once he's not DC he still has a gig for life.
