Eagles 2022 Offseason

Watson is great and he's young (and there's nothing wrong with his contract unless off-field issues sink him). But he can try to pick a team that can win a Super Bowl in 2022 and 2023. I don't think the Eagles are that, and especially not if they give up 2-3 picks (or equivalent) for him. And that will be the price.

Panthers offer starts with the 6th pick so Eagles would have to give two just to match that.

I don't think you can compare Watson to Vick in terms of his ability to get back on the field at a high level. He's much younger (in football terms) and wasn't in jail for 21 months, just not playing in games.

I'm not sure how you can say that Watson can try to pick a team and then throw the Panthers into the mix. The Eagles have to be more enticing than the Panthers.

As far as the #6 pick goes, this is not a good QB draft, so the #6 pick isn't worth as much. Two 1sts from the Eagles are likely just as tempting.

Well, agreed, he might not pick the Panthers either, but they are the team supposedly trying the hardest to get him now. Panthers, Bucs and Seahawks are the sportsbook betting odds leaders.

The Eagles originally held out for the equivalent of the Stafford trade: two firsts, a third, and a not-all-that-good Goff. Of course, we ended with a first and a third. The Eagles' initial line-in-the-sand was at a time when they had a ton of time to get a deal done. I expect the Watson trade to drop within the week.

I'm still a little salty that the Eagles didn't draft Chinn, but I guess Hurts is potentially much more valuable.

The Seahawks are a decent spot, but if they are trading Lockett and giving up picks, then they are short of offensive talent.

Tampa makes a lot of sense, but don't have the draft capital.

The Eagles could be serious contenders if they want to be.

We got lucky with Vick. I'd rather not press our luck. Big names Terrell and Alshon at WR wound up hurting the team, because of their personality issues. Why buy trouble at a huge cost in $ and cheap talent?

Vick was different. He had served his time and paid the price for what he did. I think he was remorseful and deserved a second chance. Indicted or not, there are 21 women. He clearly needs some atonement.

It's reasonable to expect Watson won't be as good as he was (Vick wasn't).

Care to expand on this? Vick seemed better with the Eagles.

Vick was very good that one year (I think it was his second with the Eagles). Other than that I don’t think he was anything special. His rushing skills seemed to diminish. I thought he was usually a Pro Bowl player with Atlanta; I don’t think he was with the Eagles except that one season.

Considering Vick never played a full season, I think his running stats were fine with the Eagles even though he averaged a half yard less per rush than with the Falcons (6.7 vs 7.3). He was a much more efficient passer with the Eagles, imo.

Some reports (SI's Ed Kracz) have the Eagles likely to sign free agents Harold Landry (EDGE) and Justin Reid (S). Both fit needs and are good, solid players. I'd be very happy with that "get" in Free Agency.

Harold Landry has already signed a five year extension with the Titans so that would be a hard get

Yeah, I just saw that. Hope he's right about Reid. Let's get Nwosu and White from the Chargers instead of Landry.

Howie showing the Phillies how its done. Agreed to deal with Haasan Redick. 23.5 sacks over the past two year. Will play that Sam and stand up pass rush role in the defense. Local kid from Camden. Great pickup.

I wonder if the Eagles would be interested in Jarvis Landry, who was released by the Browns.

I don’t get non-tendering Singleton. He isn’t a great player, but when he played full time he was sometimes a tackling machine, getting 10-12 for many games. Even if he doesn’t return as a starter, he is still worth the tender in my opinion just as a special teamer and sometimes starter / utility.

We have almost no talent at LB (I count Reddick as a DE), he seems worth a comparatively cheap roster spot to me.
