It should be an interesting offseason for the Eagles. They will have cap room to go after free agents. They have three 1st round picks in the draft. There are a few big name QB's available for trade. Here are the particulars for the offseason:

15, 16, 19, Original 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, Cardinals and WFT 5ths, Colts 6th

The Eagles will not receive any compensation picks in this draft.

The Eagles have plenty of needs including DE, DT, WR, LB, S, CB.

Players who could be traded. Cox, Sanders, Hurts (if trading for a different QB).

Veterans who could to be released or retire: Brooks, Kelce

The Eagles got lucky this past season in that there was a 7th team to make the playoffs and they were the 7th. It will up to Howie and co. to make improvements to the team to get them solidly in the playoffs next year. It will be interesting in any case as there may be trades, big signings and draft maneuvering to come.

I am nuts to think this is the best offseason "feeling" I have had since Andy Reid's tenure (except for after the SB). This is a team that while it certainly has some issues, most glaring to me is a very old OL, there is so much to like. Sirianni, despite making a glaring mistake with a DC, showed an ability to adjust. We had a very strong draft with multiple players looking like clear keepers, we have draft capital to use. Next year will not be a SB either, but frankly I wouldnt be surprised if this isnt a 12-13 win team in 2 years, we have alot going for us assuming the right moves are made. We extended the correct guys (Maddox, Sweat, Goeddert, Mailata) without falling into the fools extensions of guys like Barnett, Avery, Harris, Nelson and sadly even McLeod.

Trade a 1st round pick for a 3rd this year and 1st next year, have back to back years with 2 first round picks. Spend on D. Get a DC with a clue. Get a new ST Coordinator (except for Elliot we were laughably bad).

Crazy as it sounds, Howie earned another year.

Andy Reid built his Eagles teams on the offensive line. We still have some. We need to find quality there every year.

Eagles lose Director of Player Personnel, previously head of college scouting, to the Bears. How does that work? It seems unfair to lose him less than 3 months prior to the draft. He would take all of the Eagles pre-combine draft info and thinking with him. This is a key draft for the Eagles.

Well it's reportedly a promotion but either way clearly they can't or don't want to stop him from taking the job. And when else are NFL employees going to change jobs?

It reportedly is an Assistant GM title, so they couldn't stop him I think after draft is fairest time for those involve with draft.

But that is not practical when teams are changing GMs and coaches now. Closer to the combine (or post-combine) would maybe be a different story.

If it's an issue for the Eagles all they gotta do is promote him. Or even fight it, though it doesn't seem like there's any rule or contract they could base that on.

If anything I think the issue here is not that the Bears might peach Eagles intel, but Howie doesn't mind losing people because he runs the draft anyway.

A NY TV station also did a tweet that was like, "Tom Brady, who lost two Super Bowls to the New York Giants, has retired."

That said, those 3 Super Bowl appearances on top of the 7 wins are really just all the more impressive. The next most is Elway with 5 (and of course he was 1-4).

Brady's claim to being the goat is very impressive, but I wonder if he would have been in all those super bowls if he played in Montana's era, where QBs were allowed to be clobbered with little consequence to the defenders. To me, Montana is still the best QB I've ever seen.

Wow, surprising that Pederson does not have any better opportunities than Jacksonville. I agree with you, horrible franchise and it is likely not going to work out well for Doug regardless of what he does as coach. 2-3 years and then on the street again. One wonders why people take jobs with Jacksonville, Houston and some other dead ends, but there are so few jobs and a coach's career window closes quickly.

In the end, his stock is probably not that high. The SB is seen as partly a fluke and it was all downhill from there. It doesn't seem like he was a serious candidate for any of the better jobs. But yeah. There's only so many jobs, and even fewer of them where you don't have to deal with a bad or at least troublesome owner (including the Eagles and they're one of the good ones!)

Plus you can also work for one of the good ones and still lose your job after 2-3 years.

Of course, it's also the $.
