Hurts needs to work on his pocket awareness, decision making and accuracy. The first two can be improved with experience, the last not so much, but he can learn how to lead people more and trust they will run their routes correctly.

He has all the other skills - leadership, character, work ethic, intelligence, cool under fire, keeps plays alive and has enough arm strength to make all the throws.

This team is on year 3 of a rebuild (Roseman & Lurie only woke up to this fact in 2021) and the roster still needs major work at DE, CB, S, LB and ST P/KO returner with significant depth needed at WR and RB.

Spending the money & draft capital for the last few years of Wilson's career is the height of folly. We would not win anything with him; in fact it would almost guarantee that outcome. No QB can win without a balanced and at least solid roster around them. We only have to look back at 2017 to understand this lesson.

I'm not a Georgia fan, but I think I like a Travon Walker and Nakobe Dean draft for the Eagles.

EDIT... crap, I didn't realize Walker had a good last week. I was really hoping he'd be in the Eagles range.

If I were running things, I wouldn't trade up for anybody. I'd make three picks at 15, 16 and 19.

Don't fall in love with anybody. You're going to hear people insist that 25 guys won't be there at 15, 16 and 19. I'm pretty good at math so that seems not likely. Wait till the QBs start going ahead of us too.

I agree. We have many holes and also positions ably filled by players unlikely to still be here a year or two from now. So many of Eagles' trade-ups have semi-bombed. I'm also in the camp of not saving picks for next season. Load up now. Give enough talent for an honest test of Hurts and our new defensive scheme. If the Eagles decide to move on from Hurts next season, they will almost certainly have to trade him, so let's give him the best chance to increase his value this season. Add all the talent we can. Also, let's see what Sirianni can do with more talent. The Eagles can't excel this season by hedging their bets by shifting draft ammo into next year. No reason not to make a serious run this year.

The 'experts' keep tying Deshaun Watson to the Eagles. That would be team suicide.

Hopefully Lurie is better than that, and not looking for Vick 2.0. I would think the Wentz experience would make them leery of anyone with character issues right now. Also, it is kind of a Catch-22 - if he's traded before the legal issues are resolved you might get him for less, but he legal issues aren't resolved. If they are, he possibly costs too much.

In a vacuum, I get it. Watson is already what they only hope Hurts can become. But he also hasn't played in a year, and they might not be able to build a good enough team around him (not this season, and maybe not the next one either if they give up those picks).

I don't think they're trying to make a serious run this season though. Compete for the East, sure. Win it (or a wild card) great. But it's not all or nothing. Shifting one pick to next season still might be a better play for the medium-term success of the franchise, whether it's the pick itself or using it to get the next QB if Hurts doesn't work out.

I honestly do believe in giving people second chances, but those chances should come after a situation is fully resolved and any consequences have been assessed. At this point Watson is a no-go for me.

I think there is a real chance that Walker could go top 5. The Eagles can get there, but I'm not sure I want them to (I agree with Squire about keeping the picks... except in a scenario where a team wants to trade up for a QB and will slightly overpay to do so).

I guess the good thing is that Dean's measurables weren't ideal and he should be available. It will be interesting to see what the Eagles do if Dean and Lloyd are available at #15. I'd probably roll the dice and hope one will still be on the board at #19.

I don't want to trade up; merely pointing out that it is feasible. I think we have enough holes to make most of our picks, although I'd like to ditch #19 for a lower pick this year and a #1 next year. Hoping someone wants to trade up for a QB at that point.

The only guy I would consider trading up for is Hutchinson, if he slips to the 4-5 area, but that's highly unlikely, he'll probably go 1.

I agree with this although I think it would have to be for #15/16 in that scenario. Not that it affects the Eagles much (depending who is on the board).

I don't want the Eagles to pick David Ojabo, I feel like his stock might be inflated playing opposite of Hutchinson. So measure him for a gold jacket tonight. I agree with a lot of what I read here about the state of the roster, and my fear between now and the end of the draft is that Howie will overpay for something with those first rounders. I am in the camp hoping the Eagles use all their picks unless they can find someone willing to overpay for one of their first rounders. There are worse problems in the NFL than drafting too many good players that all need to be extended at the same time.

I'm sure the same will be said about Travon Walker and Jordan Davis.

I would be fine with drafting Ojabo and Davis... pair with Fletcher, Hargrave, etc and that could be a good defensive front.

He bet online which is how the NFL found out. The legal gambling companies track everything. Had he bet even just $1 it would have been suspendable, though I assume (as was everything in the NFL) much is at the commissioner's discretion.

(He also bet on his own team, albeit in parlays, and to win.)

I assume twitter will point out NFL suspensions for violent crimes compared to Ridley's suspension for betting on an NFL partner site which most likely is free advertising.
