Eagles 2018-2019 Season

Vikings turn it over on downs, looks like the Eagles are going to the playoffs!

It's official, Eagles are in the playoffs and will head to Chicago (who might regret beating the Vikings) for a wildcard weekend game! I really didn't think the Eagles would make the playoffs but they are playing their best ball right now.

Crazy to think this season is still alive when it looked dead and buried so many times. Now they just need to go to Chicago, New Orleans and LA to reach the Super Bowl. Simple.

I didn't think Eagles had a chance at playoffs, but another season of late-season magic by Foles.

They wound up being fun.

I don't think the Bears had a good option, a hot, less-known team, or a third meeting with a tough division rival. I'm sure they wanted to win 12 games. Would be great to get another crack at the Saints. For all we know the Seahawks will run the table too.

Well, unlike last year, the Eagles get in with the worst record of any 2018 playoff team. No home games no matter what. At this point, I can't rule anything out with a Foles led team, but to win three road games just to get to the Super Bowl, even St. Nick might have trouble pulling that miracle out of his bag of tricks.

Still, winning a Super Bowl and following that up with pulling a dead season out of the fire, I'll take that as a great 2018.

If Foles can pull any rabbit out of his hat, any sort of playoff run, I seriously question whether the Eagles and this coaching staff aren't better off with Foles then Wentz.

Foles injury sounds like a cracked rib, at least a bruised rib. I don't know if he will take a cortisone shot to alleviate the pain (or other pain suppressor), but it's going to be really tough for him to practice this week and to throw naturally. Wentz will certainly be clamoring to play, and he's at least capable of practicing. Sudfeld is untested and has not practiced much this year, although the Eagles are continually reported to be "high" on him. Very interesting sub-plot to follow this week.

And, replying to Lawman, I'd like to see Howie find a way to keep both QBs. Foles is certainly capable of magic, and Wentz of playing at MVP-level.

The pattern the past couple of seasons has been that Wentz has been the builder, Foles the finisher.

Assuming he can stay healthy - big if - Wentz will obviously be the better QB over the next 5 years, and still already is by a large margin really. Not sure how they can keep both - the $ stuff alone would presumably be crippling even if Foles took a pay cut, but also how would you keep Wentz into his next contract? But it's a nice idea.

Seems like it is more of a philosophical question as anything - do you need an elite QB to win consistently or is the right combination of coaching, scheme and experience more important? I'm still pretty sure the Eagles would have won all the games they just won - it was only three of them - with Wentz (who was also unbeaten in three games, one of them an OT loss in which the offense never got the ball). It's only the Vikings that made everything magical really

Wentz is younger, more mobile, has the bigger arm, can extend plays, and is more dynamic. Foles just seems to fit what Pederson does and wants to do more then Wentz does. Perhaps part of that is misperception on my part. But, while I think Wentz is the better player I think Foles may be the better fit for for Pederson's play calling and offensive schemes.

It seems like Foles is generally more consistent and might call better running audibles since the run game seems to work a little better with him. I love Wentz, though, if he's 100% or close.

Seems like the secondary is playing better than they did when Wentz was around, probably due to the Foles effect too.

tough game to call today. bears defense is very good (i hope the eagles D shows they are good as well), bears offense runs the ball well. but the eagles have been holding their own. can the foles magic continue? would love to see it. i think the NFL wants the city of Chicago to be relevant again and it might show today. and therefore,,, and therefore... i'm about to raise your salary..oops wrong subject. therefore, i think we say goodbye to the Nick Foles era today. hate to see him go. he can't keep it up. can he???

I called this result to my friend, in that I said the game will come down to Cody Parkey needing to make a kick and missing. What a weird game, but Nick Foles does it again. Eagles move on to play the Saints. That's really a tall task, and I think it will not be a blowout like it as earlier in the year. We'll see...

Incredible game. My feed was behind some of my American friends so I got cryptic messages before the Tate TD and the missed field goal which just added to the tension.
By the way the field goal wasn't a miss as such. Treyvon Hester tipped it and that possibly made enough of a difference. Really gotta feel for Parkey but I'm excited that the Eagles survive another week.
New Orleans feels like a really bad matchup but you can't win if you aren't in the game and the Eagles are in the game.

According to ESPN, the 2018 Bears are the 4th team in SB era to lead the league in takeaways and scoring defense and the only one not to win the Championship.
