Isn't it also possible that three strong games from Foles would give him trade value that's worth more than a better draft position?

Pretty sure Foles is an UFA at the end of the year so that ship has sailed...no future benefits from Foles as a trade chip

Sorta. The better that Foles plays, the better the contract that he gets, the better the Comp Pick we'll get when he signs elsewhere in the 2020 draft (assuming that we are comp pick eligible in 2020).

But was it Foles or the Defense? My opinion is they won because the defense had a great game against a very high powered offense. Schwartz forced the Rams to dink and dunk their way down the field and (barely) hung on to win the game. Foles played well, dont get me wrong, but he didnt win the game. They scored 17 points in a short period time in the 3rd quarter, and much of that was from the defense.

Very good team game, but sadly I fear it is too little too late. Now, if they also beat Houston next week then we have a realistic shot at the playoffs maybe (assuming Minnesota doesnt win out).

Wow, just looked at the stats. Rasul Douglas, who has been marginal all season really, had 14 Tackles. Tackles for a CB are always a dubious stat because it probably means they are giving up completed passes, but 14 is crazy. Numbers like that are usually only for MLBs or maybe a safety, he at least was making the plays when he had a chance.

Rams seem to give up 30 points to any reasonably capable NFL team, so maybe the Eagles are back to being one of those.

Of course if the defense didn't allow teams like the Panthers and Titans to come back then doing it against the Rams wouldn't have felt so miraculous.

Ah, Foles has a $20 million option. So another team would have to want to have the Eagles pick that up, trade for him, and be able to rework his deal. Presumably too many moving parts (and too rich for the Eagles to actually pick up.

Also, Foles can pay back his $2 million signing bonus to void the option.

Saints through-the-end-zone fumble on MNF keeps the Panthers hopes (which are counter to the Eagles hopes) alive in last two minutes.

And the Panthers see those hopes dashed as Cam Newton is, really, not a very accurate passer and also seems to be throwing through a shoulder injury to his throwing arm.

Also, this game featured a Pick-2. I never realized that was a thing.

I gotta say, I think the Eagles are handling this Wentz/Foles situation quite well. Publicly backing Wentz as The Franchise QB while not allowing him to play hurt. Seems like the 2nd opinion Wentz received wasn't to his liking either:

Great to see Sproles give the touch down ball to Mike Trout. I realise he may never be a free agent, and even if he was a free agent theres no guarantee he would sign for the Phillies but I can dream.

Unless Foles still has some magic in the last 2:00 minutes, Doug needlessly going for 2 early and Elliott not being able to consistently make extra points just ended the Eagles season.

I totally agree. This is Pederson's MO this year. We turn ultra-conservative and try to just nurse a lead through the final half of the 4th quarter. Too many times it hasn't worked. We tend to do this on both sides of the ball. I also fault the special teams' coach for running balls out of the end zone. More often than not with the rules change, either you end up with the ball short of the 25-yard line or else something really bad, like a fumble happens. The last run out also cost a play before the 2 minute warning.

Good day for Foles, but he really took a beating today. Not at all sure how healthy he will be for the final game, between the totally obvious and rather vicious face-guard tackle and the helmet to the ribs.

Looking back on the season, a healthy Foles is superior to the Wentz who hobbled through much of the season with a back problem before he was knocked out by the shot to the back in his last game.

Not to mention the 21 our so points the refs gave Houston or cost us. We actually played really well in this game for the most part. Foles sailed a couple of throws, and Vaitai couldn't block Clowney, but other than that the execution was really good. Congrats to Ertz for the record.

Well, the Bears won. The way next weekend sets up is the Bears have incentive to win. The Bears are one game behind the Rams and own the tiebreaker over them because they beat the Rams heads up. The both play in the late games next week, so the Bears won't know if the Rams won or lost, so if they win and the Rams lose, the difference is the # 2 seed and a bye. The Rams will probably beat the 49ers, but the Bears I don't think the Bears will rest their players and take that chance, especially since they just played the 49ers and they gave the Bears a good game.

The Eagles/Redskins game is also a late game, so a lot of scoreboard watching will be going on.

The Vikings should win that game at home but ya never know. I agree the Bears want the game.

Vikings win that game going away and we pay the penalty for messing up vs. Carolina and Tampa Bay. I can't help thinking our playoff chances are pretty low right now...20-30%.

Every loss counts (and the Panthers game was certainly the worst of 'em) but 0-2 against Dallas is the story of the season really. At least they wound up being pretty fun to watch post-Saints.
