It would be nice, if (when) they get that higher-end arm, to use Strahm and Hoffman for more multi-inning spots. Alvarado is capable of it too but only if he's getting out RHBs.
But I feel like people are always on here wishing the bullpen was run like it was 1979 and then in September they complain that the bullpen was overused. The science and intense focus on match-ups in 2024 is just going to mean they'd rather get two one-innng outings every three days from the most possible pitchers. At the end of the day Thomson's bullpen management (which also obviously comes from Cotham and the front office) is as good as we've ever seen, and the best bullpen we've seen without it necessarily being the most talented or star-laden (though it's certainly the deepest).
How does acquiring a LHB push Marsh or Stott down the line-up? It would just be an extra guy to PH for Rojas or Hays when those two are already playing. Another chess piece, which they should certainly should get, but to get one who is really that much better than Dahl or Clemens means a higher trade price or playing time that's not really available.
