Track record seems to matter to the Phils in the first round. I think Gillen's pedigree, projection and performance on the national circuits make him the most likely guy they'd pick if he slides, but his arm is apparently bad enough that even a move to second base is in question.
Morlando has a similar background where he impressed last year but had issues this year, in part because no one would pitch to him, though his performance at the combine was said to be impressive and we know the Phils watch that stuff- if you want a player with a better defensive profile he's probably a better pick than Gillen because he can at least throw.
I realllly like Brecht. He looks the part, and his delivery doesn't look so out of control that an athlete like him couldn't be refined to make big (and quick) improvements- though i heard that if he's selected in the first round he'd have the highest walk rate ever for a first round pick out of college.
I think of all the names near their pick, undersized HS OF Slade Caldwell and Sloan are the only two i'd be initially disappointed to pick.
