I think they should have had a firm plan for playing time and, with Didi out, Stott definitely should have played more. But, I think this experience of close to a month in MLB, with 30 AB, is a very valuable learning experience for Stott. He now has a visceral feel for where he needs to improve. With 10Ks in 30AB, significant improvement is needed. He has learned that in-season MLB, playing against guys who were good enough to make the MLB roster, is not only different from AA/AAA, it is different from what he experienced in major league ST. From more than 10% of his AB resulting in extra-base hits in AA, he had only 1 double in 30 ABs in MLB. It's a shock. Hopefully he has observed, and the hitting coach has explained, how MLB pitchers got him out and vitiated his power; now it's up to him to develop the skill to overcome those problems. This almost-month in MLB can/should jumpstart an almost year of accelerated development in Allentown.
