Agree with all of you. The team seems to be on the same page. In their interview they talk about Just doing their jobs and other cliches. Doesn’t matter what they believe, but more that they buy into the same belief. One thing I notice is how encouraging the veterans are of the newbies, in making special efforts to congratulate them, even if it was moving the runners over with a “productive out.” Thomson clearly doesn’t have veteran preference, and the young aren’t playing scared. Everyone is getting playing time and the relievers understand their role is to be ready when their name is called. There seems to be real chemistry and they are on a roll.

Of course, there's room to have some fun, which is what organist Wilbur Snapp did during a minor league game in 1985. His spur-of-the-moment decision to troll the umpire for what he perceived as a missed call didn't go exactly as planned, and it wound up getting the him ejected from the game; a baseball first, per Bleacher Report.

The Clearwater Phillies — now known as the Clearwater Threshers — are a minor league that plays in Clearwater, Florida. In 1985, the Clearwater Phillies played their inaugural season at Jack Russell Memorial Stadium (via Minor League Baseball). Clearwater is the spring training home of the Philadelphia Phillies, and the big league spends the spring playing in the same stadium that the Single-A club plays in for the rest of the year.

One night that season, Snapp saw what he perceived to be a bad call, so he did what any disgruntled fan wishes they could do to show their displeasure toward the umpire: He blasted "Three Blind Mice" through the stadium's PA system. Unfortunately, the umpire didn't find this as funny as everyone else in attendance that night probably did, and he pointed up at Snapp and tossed him from the game. In the years that followed, fans would ask him for autographs and he always signed, "Wilbur Snapp, Three Blind Mice organist."

They loaded up on live arms, and it's easier to coach up a live arm, doesn't mean it can be done (hasn't been done in past seasons) but there's more margin for error.

I think any bullpen can be the worst in baseball or the best in baseball over two weeks. So many other factors too - the opposition, how many innings the starters go, what situations the relievers enter a game in.

There was some especially not well-written blog that suggested Thomson has actually settled on fixed roles for Knebel, Seranthony and Hand - they are just based on line-up/match-ups rather than inning. I don't know if there's enough evidence to say that has been consistently true (at least not yet) but I'm certainly all for it. If nothing else, Knebel has stablized and Familia has been rightly marginalized. And much of this while they were missing Brogdon too.

It's possible that the Phils could juggle their rotation and have Zack Wheeler start Friday night against the Cardinals. That would allow him to pitch five days later in Toronto. Word is Wheeler is good to travel to Canada.

Depending on how the Phils configure the rest of their rotation for the four-game series in St. Louis, they could be in need of a pitcher for Tuesday night’s series opener in Toronto. Kent Emanuel and Griff McGarry, pitching at Triple A and Double A, respectively, could be possibilities to get innings in that game.

Falter missed some time last year due to Covid protocol, where he was needed, but not available. I thought it was foolish for a AAA guy wanting to break into the majors. Heshrting himself again.

Connor Brogdon was a bit fatigued after his outing at Triple A last night, Rob Thomson said, so they’ll give him another and then he could return to majors. Mike Kelly is here and active for long relief this weekend.

I’m thinking we’ll see a pretty quiet trade deadline for the Phils this year. The only real needle moving trade that could/should be made is for a legit CF. Any of the usual candidates will require a kings ransom in prospects. Is there a lesser known guy that can fill the role?

I think they'll be aggressive myself. Dombrowski's style, and this is an all-in year. Rental players rarely cost a ton, even guys like Machado. Unless the other team picks up a ton of $ which the Phillies don't need them to do for the right guy.

The nice thing is the bullpen has stablized and may even be deep once everyone is back. Wouldn't rule out another piece there but a starting pitcher is more important.

An adequate CF or decent OF bat who can field, rather than a big swing, also perfectly doable. They just probably won't go after a 3B, SS or 2B, especially if Segura's timetable is moved up. Of course that and Harper coming back would be huge if the team is still right where it is now on September 1.

Starting Pitching is interesting. While it never hurts to have 6 starters.. if Eflin and Ranger come back healthy.. who do we boot? Ranger back to the pen? Eflin? Gibson?

Another thought.. Darrick Hall is off to a hot start. Obviously we have seen many rookies start fast and then flame out as teams adjust... BUT.. what if he continues to be an 800+ OPS player up to when Harper returns? If Harper can throw, do they keep Hall as a platoon with $20M Castellanos at DH? If Harper cant throw. then there is no place to put Hall unless you platoon him with Rhys.
