You gotta give to get. If the Castillo deal has inflated the value of someone like Mahle, then walk away. But they may well still be able to get Thor or Quintana, neither of whom are a clear upgrade (but could be). If you think Quintana can continue to pitch as he has (and in the playoffs) or you value Thor's track record (and don't worry about his health/innings) they could both look pretty good.

Bullpen thing possibly makes sense (but also doesn't mean they won't end up getting someone). As far as replacing Familia goes, either Coonrod or Appel (who is only up temporarily now) could and there are also younger guys you might hope to help (like Miller now moving up the depth chart with Romero gone, and Sheriff is still on the 60-day).
