Nothing wrong with seeing Marsh as a cost effective roster component for a few years. We'll need that space to get Trea Turner.

But Thor could come down to $7 million versus putting a top prospect into the deal (likely McGarry).

Moniak probably needs to change organizations for a second chance there. I really thought he had turned the corner and was destined for a starting role coming out of spring training, but after the time on the IL, he has not looked good.

I guess the Phillies liked Robertson better than Iglesias, because they probably could have gotten Thor plus Iglesias without having to give up Brown. If not DD didn’t do his job well.

Phillies: Claimed left-hander Andrew Vasquez off waivers from Blue Jays

It is also listed under transactions on the Phillies web site. Looks like he will be on the 40 man roster. He can be optioned.

this was a couple of days ago (and was posted in non-trade deadline thread), they moved Eflin to the 60 at the time

he caved...big time. panic move on the O'Hoppe trade. taking a big time gamble on a player that Odubel hits better than. brown hurts. especially for a rental. he was really growing as a pitcher. this team might make a playoff series but that's it. they aren't consistent hitting the ball.

I would actually say our bigger problem with the playoffs is the pitching. We have 2 starters that can start playoff games, not 3 (no, Thor is not one of them). Our bullpen is better, but it has big holes, and a good team putting top effort and its best players will beat it up.

We have the offense to challenge everyone except the Dodgers, but we simply can't stop them from scoring, especially with our relatively horrible defense.

Ranger is as good as most teams' #3 starter now that he's healthy again. He wasn't ready to begin the season because of his late start in the Spring. I'm happy with Thor as our #4 in a playoff game. He can dial it up sometimes for 5 innings or so, still.
