Girardi, via pool reporter @JSalisburyNBCS : J.T. Realmuto is sick. He had a stomach ache and fever last night. Tests are negative, but he's in COVID protocol. He will not fly with team to Florida later today.

Just to be clear, this doesn't mean Realmuto has COVID.

I actually don't find this suspicious because I think JT would have been able to play today, at least to pinch hit. This could put him out for the entire weekend series and that is not what the Phillies would want. It does give his injury time to heal, but it is not like they could not have put Marchan on the roster for EDLS if they really wanted to.

Bradley pitched a 123 inning last night at LHV. Assume he'll be activated at some point over the weekend.

Plus we have the DH this weekend. And the only 2 announced starters for Toronto Friday and Sunday are both left-handed. It will hurt to not have JT's right-handed bat in the lineup though I think we get Quinn back potentially at some point.

Anyone else concerned about Bohm? Not that hes not hitting.. but his body language is awful. Every strikeout now hes seen slamming equipment or yelling something to himself. In the game yesterday it appeared he didnt run out that double play ball.

With no positive test or contact trace JT should be able to come back any time if he doesn't have a fever. Didi was only on the COVID list for one day.

Honestly he’s totally lost at the plate. Might benefit him if the optioned him for a week to gain some confidence hitting lesser pitching. Problem is it would put another lefty in the lineup with Miller playing third.

The Phillies have had dreadful luck (or maybe it’s not luck) with young hitters. We’ll have some guy come up and take for a half a year or so and then completely fall off the map. Franco, Brown, Bohm, Hoskins, Asche, etc. obviously the league adjusts, but our guys don’t seem to do a good guys adjusting back.

Not incredibly worried about Bohm (yet). His .410 BABIP from last year was not sustainable. The league has probably adjusted some, but his .265 BABIP is low. Exit velocity and sweet spot % are about the same - K rate is up and launch angle down though. Summary - I think it's a bit soon to make a drastic move. Bohm's struggles are spotlighted with JT and Didi out, and Didi off to a slow start.

I don’t think that Bohm’s struggles warrant demotion. He is contributing and has gotten some big hits. Given the lack of alternatives and injuries to other hitters, the Phillies need him now even as he is currently.

Also, don't forget that we only had a 1/3+ change season last year. In a full 162 game season, a guy is likely to have ups and downs. Last year, we saw Bohm just for the ups. Give things a chance to even out.

I wasnt really saying we should send him down... but im worried about his mentality right now.. the lack of hustle (which I assumed was out of frustration) that slamming of equipment in multiple ABs. Hes in his own head right now

I somehow missed this, but according to Phillies transactions. Philadelphia Phillies placed C J.T. Realmuto on the 10-day injured list.

I thought it was just COVID protocol. Wonder if this is the roster move Salsbury teased us about yesterday.

Quinn and Joyce can be activated tomorrow. Bradley can be activated today.

How long do the Phillies get to keep Torreyes on a "rehab" assignment? Surely they will have to make a 40-man reduction soon, right?

That is the technical move they need to make but if it is COVID there is no 10-day requirement. They just did not create a new category (like the 7-day concussion list they did a few years ago).

Yeah I think they decided to do that for privacy reasons as well. It's the exact same move they made with all the other COVID guys. Didi was back in 24 hours.

Torreyes is 5 or 6 days away from being required to come back on the roster.

He left the team a month ago for personal reasons and will now train in Clearwater before likely heading to AAA to work into game shape. He can remain on the restricted list for 30 days.

That's great news, in any case.

In 30 days we'll know if Odubel's recent offense is for real. And we'll probably have 20 games in AAA for Adam to get his confidence back and we don't need to deal with the 40-man spot till then like we will have to do with Torreyes shortly.

Of course if Odubel is struggling again, that is the 40-man spot we will use to activate Haseley.
