Have you watched Alfaro the last couple weeks?
When he first came up, pitchers challenged him with FBs in the K-zone, now all he sees are high FBs out of the zone and low breaking balls. And he chases them.
This is normal and why you don't take a hot streak by a rookie seriously, once they get a little film the league quickly adjusts to new hitters.
Alfaro was struggling at Lehigh and he'll struggle in the majors until he shortens his stroke, learns to wait on pitches, and lays off pitches out of the K-zone.
That may take years or it may never come.
Williams started hot, pitchers adjusted, he started adjusting back. But he's not a sure thing, has good and bad ABs, K'od chasing high fastballs again, his bug-a-boo.
But Williams has been working on managing the K-zone since the start of the year in Lehigh and made big strides over last season, and he's worked some good ABs in the majors, just has to be more consistent doing so, much the way Altherr transformed himself as a hitter.
Hoskins, forget it, didn't swing his first two trips to the plate, will look bad on some breaking balls, but took a curve out, then a FB yard.
He makes pitchers throw strikes, and then makes them pay for it.
He won't sustain his current performance but it's obvious watching him he's for real.
