We only lose Tocci. Austin Davis, Liebrandt and Tirado still Phillies property. I expected to lose multiple players, to be honest. After briefly losing Milner last year, I'm surprised that neither of the lefties (Davis & Liebrandt) were picked.

This note may belong in the phormer Phillies thread but the Astros select Anthony Gose from the Rangers as a pitcher.

I like Tocci a bit and think there is a good chance we get him back. The Rangers are intending to compete I thought so trying to bury a Rule 5 guy on their bench seems odd to me but Tocci has the kind of skills where he could stick. Glad to not have lost Austin Davis or Jose Gomez or Deivi Grullon or Andrew Pullin.

No Phillies action (selections or losses) in the AAA portion. Angelo Mora did get selected from Baltimore where he signed a minor league deal to the LA Dodgers.

I see the Orioles selected Jose Mesa, Jr. from the Yankees. Is this the same son of Jose Mesa who used to hang around the Phillies' dugout back in 2002 when his namesake father was a Phillie? That was back when teams commonly let the players' kids sit around the dugout in uniform during games. MLB put the kibosh on that after the Giants let things get out of hand and let their dugout look like a daycare center during their 2002 postseason run (and Dusty Baker's son almost got run over by a Giant player crossing the plate).

It will always seem a little perplexing that the Phillies kept Joseph or two utility IFs over Tocci, but obviously they were ready and willing to lose Tocci (if in fact they do).

With Moniak, Haseley, Randolph and Ortiz on the way, Tocci wasn't a priority.
He's improved, but still has no power and doesn't put up the OBP you want from a good D, no power OF.

well, those guys are a ways away. If Altherr gets hurt again and Quinn never makes it he might have had a shot but overall yes, they have good depth w/o him.

Also, if Quinn ever solves the health riddle, that would probably make Tocci superfluous (Quinn's the same kind of player but probably better) though you could say that one of them would have been a trade piece.

Yeah while I prefer not to lose anyone I'm OK with losing Tocci. First the Rangers are an odd choice since they are intending to compete so its even more likely that he'll be returned. Second, with Tocci's lack of SLG I'd really only want him as a CF and right now he's got Herrera, Altherr, Quinn and maybe Nick Williams or Cesar Hernandez ahead of him above and Moniak, Haseley, and a whole host of other younger CFs below him.
