Actually metrics were pretty even.

They were outplayed the 1st period, buried the first five minutes of the second period, then outplayed the preds the rest of the game - similar to the Vegas game except this time they beat the odds.

The Flyers chances weren't great in the 2nd and they got caught on some long shifts in the 3rd. There is nothing wrong with stealing a game late. Especially since the Couts goal was a redirection off a deflection.

Maybe our luck is changing. That is the teams 10th win, but we still only have 4 wins in regulation. Very different than a few years ago when we won 10% of the shootouts and 20% of the OT games. How many shootouts in a row did we lose?

Not sure if it is a good sign or just dumb luck, but I now expect to win these.

They started the season with awful goaltending.

The last ten games Fedotov and Kolosov have improved to around league average.

As we saw last year, this team isn't talented enough to overcome bad goaltending but is competitive with average goaltending, and probably a PO team with above average goaltending (see the Rangers).

They've been competitive against good teams like Vegas.
Now that the lineup is stabilized, I think they'll continue to improve.
Especially if Tippett - Frost - Michkov can be a solid 2nd line.
At least until they trade Laughton and Risto at the TDL.

I like some of the talent and some of the lines work, but agree that they aren't a good team (not sure I'd say bad, but not good). I've come around on Tippett some, but I feel like he's a tough player to match up on a line. I'd put a more defensive, but solid player on a line with Michkov and whoever (my preference is Frost). I'd probably switch Farabee and Tippett.

The Philly ice has to be some of the worst in the league. There must be a poll on this.

There is but only gives top 5. I'm sure all the multi-use and Southern/Western places don't do to well (though Las Vegas makes the cut here).

Funny, that is probably the one thing that would be good for the Flyers if the Sixers get their arena. Presumably all the college basketball would end up there too and some of the concerts as well.

I know the common idea is the different events and how often the surface gets changed out (and I admit that I don't know), but I have skated on that ice. It gets worse as the game goes by. I'm not sure if it's the lights or the heat in general (also because of the lights), but you can tell when players struggle with the puck later in the game.

Rangers are a mess right now. Trade rumors flying around about Kreider, Trouba and perhaps others. Shesterkin's contract is still up in the air. Who know Laviolette's head may be on the block. They're a good club but presently in disarray. Need to make the moves and settle things down.

Well, that's something they should be able to control. Both in the ice plant and by controlling the air flow coming from outside and the concourses. But, might not be the company's top priority.

It's also extremely soft even with fresh ice, which is definitely something they should be able to control.

I watched both but fell asleep with about a minute left in the Flyers game so missed the exciting ending.
Couldn't watch the game today so missed another win!

I'm in Seattle for work this week. Was at tge Kraken Sharks game tonight and came in expecting to confirm my belief as someone who doesn't know much about hockey that Mich is miles above Celebrini...
I came away thinking Celebrini is really really good.
I don't know which of the two is better and another Mich OT winner definitely helps

It's not so much who is better now as who will be better in three or four years. Celebrini would be a sophomore in college right now. Michkov is a year and a half older and in his fourth pro season (not the highest levels, but playing against more adults).

What's interesting is there's a Bedard/Michkov debate now that the latter is here.

Celebrini is a very good player.

I don't really care to compare any of them, but the flyers clearly got the better value if you consider draft position.
