Zamula was an undrafted free agent, nobody expected him to turn into the prospect that he is during his draft year.

Old news - disappointed with the Hayes traded, I thought that if the Flyers paid half his salary that he would return more than a 6th.

Whoever is leaking info from the front office needs to knock it off, if only to not get my hopes up. I was excited about the Flyers picking up another first this draft.

Love the Michkov pick. I think there is concern about the circumstances of his father's death - if you haven't heard the story, its very sad and some believe that he was murdered for trying to get his son out of his KHL contract. @bkeich - I thought that the NHL announced that teams do not need to honor KHL contracts and that that was posted above?

I'm ok with the Bonk pick, however, with Perreault still available, I wish that they had gone best player available and it seems to be a gap between the two, and Bonk seems like a forced pick.

Cates, Frost, Tippett, Farabee, Hart, and Couturier should be here a while. Maybe Sanheim. I’d hate to see TK go, but contract wise he likely won’t be here on the next Flyers playoff team.

Desnoyers, Foerster, Attard, and Brink should be along next year. Tuamala will likely be in the AHL next season. Gauthier already announced he’s going back for another year at BC.

In another two years we should get an elite scorer thrown into the lineup in Michkov. Hopefully Coots, Frost, and Cates are our centers. We seem to lack top line defensemen or prospects. That’s something we’re going to have to address through FA or trade in a few years. We could also use another top flight offensive player. Or maybe we’re so terrible the next year or two that we can address that. And of course these kids are going to have to prove they can hang with the men in the NHL.

York showed pretty well last season. If they can get him to sign a bridge deal, we can see what he has and then decide on extending him further based on that performance.

I like Zamula and Andrae too on the D side.

I like the Michkov pick a lot, let's hope it pans out, but they had to take the shot IMO. Not as sure on Bonk.

I hadn't seen that speculation about Michkov's father but given the Flyers already have the first-hand experience with Fedotov they must know what they are doing. I don't know that either player will show up in the NHL before their deals are up (Fedotov two more years Michkov three). That the NHL doesn't require their teams to honor the contract seems irrelevant if you can be put in prison (or killed!) for not doing so.

We shall see if Hart and Couturier - and even some of the older younger players - actually are here a while. Anything can still happen over the next two seasons.

I must have missed the "don't need to honor KHL contracts", if that is true we just need to get him out of the country (and avoid being assassinated afterwards of course, which honestly would be a fear).

Well, what it means is the two leagues no longer have a relationship. That was suspended when the invasion of Ukraine started. I don't think it's actually true that the NHL isn't honoring contracts.The best-case scenario would probably still be for the two leagues to resume working together, which would make a buyout much more possible.

The Flyers probably want him to play in Russia for at least a year anyway, maybe two. After that a buyout is only extra money. I know there are some rules that limit what can be paid, but the Caps just bought out last year's top pick's contract to bring him over this year (Miroshienko). His KHL contract did specifically have a buyout option, but it is not as if any KHL team will not listen to an extra few million $ at some point.

I don’t think that the “leaking” that went on with the Hayes trade was done by the Flyers side. Probably done by agents in Krug’s camp in order to sabotage the trade. The Flyers brought Michkov and his entourage to Voorhees for interviews and no one knew a thing about it. Briere has been running a tight ship. No one knew about the Provorov trade before it went down either.

Did the Caps even buy it out? It seems like it was just a mutual termination option between the player and the team, with no way for the Caps to be involved. In fact I'm not sure NHL teams have ever actually bought out a KHL contract - wouldn't that have to be factored into the cap? In theory the player can do it themselves if the NHL team is paying him enough but I think it's always been either that, the contract expiring or the contract being broken.

I think Docs is referring to all the stories that said the Flyers expected to to land more picks in general. There have also been rumors about other destinations for Sanheim that didn't pan out (so far) though I'd agree the Flyers aren't necessarily the source there.

No reason for Krug's agent to leak anything to sabotage the trade; quite the opposite in fact - they didn't need the media to kill the trade and if they weren't willing to consider going to a potential third team the leaks served no purpose for them either (but it couldn't have hurt the Flyers to make sure every team in the league knew it w/o having to make 28 phone calls).

They send No. 167 this year, plus Los Angeles' second-round pick in 2024.

A BPA situation but it does make you think about the goalie picture overall (whether Hart is here in two or three years, whether Fedotov ever signs).

Draft fun fact….a kid my son played with a few years back moved to Nashville and was at the draft. He got to meet Adam Fantilli shortly after he was drafted.

Miroshnichenko's made a deal with his club to terminate the final year of his KHL contract, and the club in turn holds his KHL rights if he ever returns. In this case, the deal was entirely between the player & team. My fuzzy memory seems to recall players in the past having to pay the termination fee, which could come from the NHL club in the form of salary or bonus but I can't remember the case where that happened.

The bummer was that the Blues deal was originally reported to include one of the Blues firsts this year - and I wish that the details of that trade were not announced until the trade was final so that I didn't count chickens. Maybe with an extra first, the flyers would have taken perreault with the middle pick and come back with Bonk, and I hate thinking about that lol.

I like the trade to get a second this year, they didn't give up much. Drafting goalies in the second and third though - are the flyers a goalie factory now? Do they really want to unload Hart?

After they recoup a 2nd for Jay O'Brien the flyers will have 2 firsts and 2 seconds next year, plus whatever equity they can build up in trades. Hopefully they can capitalize on the picks though - i'm seeing Arizona continuously accumulating draft picks and then ending up in the "what are they doing" section of the draft grade columns every year.

Don’t count on that second first rounder next season. Florida is physically depleted from their PO run this year. They could easily end up in the lottery next year which means that they would retain that pick.

I think the top end of the roster will keep the Panthers out of the lottery at least. But even so it just gets the pick moved to the 2025 draft with no conditions.

You’re correct on the conditions for the pick. I just think that Florida is ripe to fail. They barely squeezed into the POs this year. Their defense is now a mess. Lots of injuries. I don’t see a good year for them next season.

I think the pick has to be more than a lottery pick. It needs to be in the top 10 picks.
