Sad day to trade off Giroux as the last vestige of the 2010 Cup run and any Flyers success. He was a great Flyer.

What's sad, and of course the reason this day ultimately came is that 2010 team was still the Carter/Richards era (along with Pronger and Timonen and Briere), with the next core unable to win anything (for many of the reasons you cite). Hard to imagine it will be any different for Couts, at least not while he's in his prime.

It is really hard to believe that there are 3 teams with worse records than the Flyers. The draft is a lottery, so they still have a shot at the top draft pick.

The Flyers are dead last in offense. That seems correct.

Why are the Flyers signing guys to ELC’s this late in the season? They aren’t getting a lot of value burning one season on the 15 remaining games. Further, why bring them straight to the NHL and skip LV?

Four year college guys are in the driver's seat. Either give them the short ELC or they'll sign with another organization that will.
Both of these guys are full grown men. They've had loads of competition and don't need LHV. Attard is 23; Cates is 24.

Cates just turned 23, but he's very seasoned with regards to international and collegiate play. He's always seemed like a decent 3rd/4th winger.

Man the Flyers have just got nothing on offense compared to teams like the Leafs, Panthers, and Avalanche. The crazy thing is the players are largely the same as when they played well in 2019-2020.

Patrick busting was a high level accident for the organization. They needed him to be what he was purported to be. Actually if one peruses the organization for wings, there is a lot of talent there. The same is true in goal and on defense. These guys are young but they will be impactful and capable of skating with any club in a year or so. The issue is the hole at center. After Couturier, the position is thin, to say the least. Needs to be fixed and that won't be easy.

Today is the first time in 10+ years that I told my TIVO NOT to record the Flyers games anymore. I had stopped watching this horror show a few weeks ago, hopefully I will be inspired to turn it back on next season.

Even the 2014 Phillies looked like they were closer to starting to put together a team than this. The players on this team are laughably bad. They are trying, but there is almost no skill or talent out there, I am thinking we would have trouble against a reasonably good college team. I hate to say it because I love to watch Hockey, but we are YEARS away from having a competitive team. Making it worse is that just like the 2012 or so Phillies, our front office is saying they are just "retooling". If they add a few players to this team it will just be bad, not horrible. This is in need of a complete rebuild, anyone over 25 should be moved as soon as possible for picks or young players.

Bobby Brink just got an assist on the goal sending Denver to the college hockey national championship.

Bkeich, after watching some college hockey and these being some of the best teams, I don’t think the Flyers would get beat by a college team. The NHL is much tighter checking and the passes are crisper.

I assume bkeich is joking. I have played against some decent NCAA and ECHL players and have been on the ice with NHLers (not competitively). The skill level isn't that close and even if it was the "reasonably good college team" is still well off the mark.

The Flyers have a lot of former first round picks that would light any NCAA team up.
