Ratcliffe making his debut today. I’ve been excited to see him. Man the bottom 6 is looking weak. MacEwen has been a nice energy guy, but still not putting up much in terms of results.

Both the Sixers and the Flyers play the Kings tonight. Pretty sure I know which one I would put a bet on to win.

I would seriously trade everything that I could. Giroux, Jones, Risto, etc. Time to start over. Last offseason was a disaster.

I think they will trade all the FAs but still hard to see a path forward, not unlike the Phillies. Without a full rebuild they can be good but not great. Both teams were supposed to thrive with a new GM, a rebuild-aided crop of prospects and a few young stars, and it just didn't work out. Both teams have also shown that team culture can't be shed so easily at the boardroom level.

Guess the Flyers will be playing for just a few thousand today, if as much due to the weather as the product. Apparently the upper bowl is closed.

Yes, just a couple seasons ago we were so excited about all the prospects, it even seemed like we had more young defenseman than we could possibly play. They pretty much all bombed except for Provorov, who seems to also be regressing, possibly from over use.

The forward prospects have generated some nice players , but no one that is anywhere near an all star.

So far the Flyers have been in 4 shootouts this year, which has been their weakness since the rule came into play.\

As bad as the flyers are, they are still only the 7th worst team in hockey. This draft doesn't seem to have a whole lot of depth so getting in the top 3 or so is where they would need to be.

With the team looking more like they will be having a big sale at the deadline, we could still see them slip even more.

They’ll make the top three. Give them some time. Their lineup is horrendous and will only be worse after the TDL. They’ve iced better ones for exhibition games.

If they make enough trades it could happen but they might also get that weird pressure-off bump. Anyway it's a lottery right?

Yes its a weighted lottery, the worst team has 16.6% chance of top pick. The draft has one prospect that has separated himself from the field as the projected top pick, but he is not predicted to be a generational talent. The next tier has 6-7 players depending on the source, so landing in the top 7 after the lottery is ideal (if they don't win the top pick). I believe two teams can move up, so finishing in the bottom five secures a solid prospect.

Well, of course it's good to have more chances (and protect yourself from dropping those two spots if you don't win) but the spread between 5-7 (8.5% to 6.7%) and 3-4 (10.9% to 9.7%) isn't that big. You really want to be one of the worst 2 (highest odds plus you can't drop lower than third or fourth, and your position is protected if the 12-16 team wins a drawing).

I can't see the Flyers "catching" the Kraken, would settle for them locking up 4th. But lots of competition.

Flyers are currently at 5th in terms of points and they are definitely getting worse.

We are hyper-aware of how bad they are but the Devils, Islanders, Sabres and Kraken are just as bad.

I know Ivan is talented, but his production hasn't been there. I'd prefer Yurov or Kemell if that is the type of player the team is looking to add.

the flyers will be getting rid of quite a few players over the next month or so...they aren't anywhere near as bad as they will be the rest of the way...

Yeah but the other teams they are "battling" with for will also sell. And in some cases, probably actively tank (via healthy scratches or shutting down guys with minor injuries). I don't know that the Flyers will. Heck, the Flyers being the Flyers it still wouldn't surprise me if they suddenly turned around and extended Giroux, or just botched the deadline in some other way (either by keeping someone they shouldn't or taking back a vet).

Sometimes you start winning games you're not supposed after you give up trying too. Blazers are 4-0 in the NBA since they became "sellers," though the cap situation in that league means you can't just take back picks/youngsters, so they wound up with some guys who can play.

Flyers have been getting worse as the season has gone on...how many wins do they have in 2022? 3?
