I forget who wrote the column saying the Sixers should definitely take Lonzo but his basic point was that, overall, players like Iverson, Lindros and TO were all worth the aggravation (and the aggravation wasn't always the player's fault). I think I agree with that, in terms of both wins and star power (even though none of them won it all). Question is, is Ball that good?

I think BC wants to trade down in the worst way, the best players are bad fits, the good fits aren't worth the #3.
Ironically, there's a good bet that a guard taken in the 2nd rd will get more PT than their first round pick (if he can shoot the "3").

Lonzo Ball is a good PG and is deserving of being picked that high...it's a mistake to think he's slipping due to flaws in his game.

You have this really odd habit of trying to play up inferior picks and such to discount premium picks. If a second round pick is getting more PT than a top 5 pick, you did it wrong.

I believe his argument is that a 2nd round guard will be older and more pro-ready than a one-and-done lottery pick. While that may be true, it only holds for a season or two. I think AF's mistake, besides the fact that he thinks the current team will win 50 games next season, is that a rookie 2nd rounder will make a different in making the playoffs or not next season.

The team should be looking 3-5 years down the road. Not only will the core of the team be ready to make a run by then (hopefully), but the slew of 1st round picks should be developing and contributing by then.

Making the playoffs in 2 years and then looking to get deeper into the playoffs 2 years later should really be the expectation.

The good.... the Sixers have multiple future 1sts and can afford to give up one in order to get the player that is probably the best fit on their team.

The bad.... this is the perfect draft to stay put or trade back as the top 10 picks are deep in talent.

Technically, I don't think the Sixers should get fleeced as the Celtics most likely want Jackson and they can't trade back any further if that's their target.

I agree. I think the Lakers were tanking last year and am not sure they will next year if they don't have to worry about a better draft pick. I hope it's not for the Kings pick in 2019.

Lowe just said on ESPN it would likely be #3 this year and one more 1st. That's about the limit I would do. Really talked myself into Jackson and a big fan of Ball. Above any prospect in this draft, I fully believe DeAndre Ayton would be absolutely fantastic next to Embiid and Simmons and you need to maximize your chances at getting him next season.

If the team was going to take Jackson and hope to maximize their value for a pick next year, I'd prefer Luka Doncic.

I think the view is that Boston is accumulating assets to trade to Chicago for Jimmy Butler

Don't the Celtics still have the Nets pick next year? Unless the Bulls want Jackson or someone else this year, then I'd think that Fultz and the Nets pick would be a strong offer.
