Look, it's not like it was 20 years ago where the PG brings the ball up court and passes to someone who shoots it. It is perfectly fine have more than one player who is a good ball-handler and creates. The problem is they play the same position and that Simmons has a questionable outside shot.
Yes, we keep hearing Simmons is going to play point-forward. The exact same position that Lebron plays. It's not like pairing him up with Kyrie who has a good outside shot, plays/guards a different position, and is elite at finishing at the rim (his defense is bad, though).
I'm not against Lebron coming to the Sixers, but it's not a good fit. You'd have to trade Saric and find a replacement for Covington to be a 3-D guy because he's going to get a big contract next year.
It would be a curious decision for Lebron's last run for more titles while still having to face one of the greatest teams ever to win those titles (at least for a few years).
