I know the media loves to debate the pros and cons of the Fultz timing. It sells papers and delivers clicks. To me it is a simple answer-- Hold off until next year and allow him more time than he probably needs to get his body and his mind back to square one. This team has taken most of the year developing chemistry and an intuitive feel for how to play together as a team. Throwing a new ingredient into the mix this late risks setting the whole process back. They still have off games, they still have too many turnovers, and sometimes you simply have to scratch your head and wonder "What the Hell just happened?". However, a blind man can see the steady progress over the last few months and the trust the players have developed in each other here in late March. I would not mess with that part of "The Process" even a little.
And, BTW, don't ignore the steady hand and wise coaching that Brett Brown has provided to these youngsters. Watch their timeouts---Total attention is focused on his conversation. You rarely see that in today's professional environment. Even with the 30 losses, he should be unanimous Coach of the Year!
Fultz is 19. 19! Patience will be rewarded, just as it was with Joel, Ben, Saric, Agholor and Kelce. Sometimes a break in the action can be part of the growing up and getting better of maturation. As the Beatles said-"Let it Be".
