Article has a short paragraph on each. Most interesting to me was #31 Morgan, described as Phillies attempting to repeat results they had with Klassen a year ago; huge arm with poor command to date.

There was a lot that I thought was odd about Gelb's projected line-up but yeah it's not really a serious exercise. The Turner/3B thing was one. The fact that he seems to think the Phillies will sign Schwarber but not JT struck me more. And either way a FA OF will likely be involved.

"Defense and arm strength that grade out as potential plusses" - which is a ray of hope, because he's pretty big, and had an awful time hitting. Hopefully if he really does turn out to be some kind of special athlete he can make some exponential improvements over the next few seasons.

Reports from Florida say Burkholder already runs great routes in the OF and has a good break on the ball. He's plus/plus runner. Would be great to have a guy that size who is fast in CF. Think of the power potential!!

Interesting that Klassen has been making some lists. We have all been looking for where Caba is ranked.

Crawford clearly is the prospect with the largest disparity in the rankings. I am hoping the swing path is correctable because his exit velocities are pretty good. There is also a variety of opinions on his defense. I wonder if all the people who do the rankings have lots of advanced offensive stats but the defensive evaluations may be heavily colored by the handful of times they see them in person.

Klassen / Chace is a draw, since they paired off in the sequence of trades.

I really enjoyed watching Klassen, but if he hadn’t gained notoriety from the trade I dont feel like he would have ranked if he was still with the Phillies.

Chace gained notoriety after the trade because he was suddenly lights-out at AA.

I'm not sure they were truly linear transactions anyway. They traded Seranthony on the 26th and Estevez on the 27th. They traded Soto and acquired Tanner Banks on the 30th. Did they really trade Soto to restock the cupboard, or because the O's made them an offer they couldn't refuse, or were they going to dump him anyway? And they still lost Bergolla (a $2 million bonus guy!) in the overall sequence of events.

I actually think Klassen would rank higher if he were in the Phillies organization and things actually cooled on him after the trade (the Phillies are just a much better pitching development team). With Chace he went from a 4 inning max effort sort of reliever to looking like an actual starter with everything looking better. We also, to the pitching dev side, have a decent idea that maybe the Orioles are bad and the Phillies are good at it. I think the trade did spotlight Chace because it put him in a better situation and if you watched him it immediately popped out. I can say that throughout the ranking process, the more I watched him the more I liked him.

I believe the Phillies were looking to dump Soto and had tried to move him instead of Seranthony in the first deal and then circled back around later, but Soto wanted out and they wanted him out.

Zips top 100 today. This formula seems really big on the age versus level stuff and of course does not consider scouting reports. So beyond Miller (17) and Painter (30) our 3rd representative is Tait (94). Assume there is just not enough statistical evidence for somebody like Chace to make this type of list under a Zips type ranking.

For everyone who thinks the system has quality depth, we rank 28th as an organization in the number of top 500 prospects (12). Our system is just very top heavy and one of the reasons (Painter) is ranked is just because he got delayed by injury for 2 years and remained on the list. FYI Crawford ranks 123rd on the list.
