Curtis DFA means the PTBNL is not on the 40-man.
Which took 30 list? That could be a lot of players.
I think 2018 draftees actually can't be PTBNLs. When they changed the rule from one year to after the World Series they also added that stipulation.
I am guessing the delay is they actually have to find the minor leaguer that has been traded (or maybe get him a physical).
I assume this is doom for Knapp until September 1? He has basically played his way into AAA
Knapp gets to stick around til Ramos heals, someone on twitter tweeted mid-August.
Depending how this all shakes out it wouldn't shock me if Knapp hung in there. I mean, they are still carrying Trevor Plouffe, though obviously that's Crawford's spot.
They gotta make another move to get Loup on the roster though.
Probably kind of early to think about this but Ramos seems the kind of player the Phils might consider re-signing. Thoughts?
I would think Ramos would at least be on a rehab assignment by the middle of next week. He caught a bullpen session yesterday. He may be hampered running, but speed is not one of his important skills anyway.
Are they allowed to DFA Jose Taveras with him on the DL? No reason to think he would be claimed at this point. Plouffe is another obvious candidate. Walding's recent AAA HR spree might have bought him a little more 40-man time.
Absolutely. He was only on a two-year deal with Tampa, he'd probably take another one. Alfaro could still get 90 starts next year or they could go 50-50, whatever.
But it is indeed too early.
The limited 2-year deal Ramos was on was signed when Tampa knew he would miss a big part of the first year (2017) recovering from an ACL knee injury. He had been looking at a longer deal with the Nats before that.
Of course he is 2 years older now though since he is only 30 I imagine there is at least a 3-year deal for him out there absent additional injury.
Nats may want him back, kind of interesting we got him really. Three-yeal deal I'd be more wary of, especially with injury history, unless you think Alfaro's really not your guy. Catchers do take a long time sometimes.
Yeah didn't he have a set back?
Murphy (the TV announcer not the journalist) reiterating he won't be ready before late August or early September "best-case scenario." That's not a medical opinion, but if he's really not joining the team until roster expand that explains the cost, and also, it's just a deal that makes Knapp the third catcher (instead of Moore or someone else from the minors).
sounds like a post season move taking a chance they get to the playoffs
