Turner did have the 3rd best OBP on the team among regulars last year (behind Harper and Schwarber). In some order those 3 should still be the top 3 in the lineup. Bohm needs another step up to get in the top 3 for me since he does not bring baserunning to the table either.

for all intents and purposes, it looks like the plan is to start the season with Trea Turner as the leadoff hitter, Bryce Harper batting second and Kyle Schwarber hitting cleanup.

Two more interesting things said by Dave Dombrowski and Rob Thomson about the...

I guess he specifically said Bryce will hit 2nd if Turner's 1st. We can guess the rest from yesterday's line-up.

Best case is Stott regains his chops and wins leadoff. Rehabbed-Stott, Turner, Harper Scharbs. I really like that 2,3,4 order best. If I were Rob I'd just build around that.

Violates the sacred righty/lefty Phils lineup rule, but Turner, Bohm, Harper , Schwarbs could also be a level stronger than the old lineup. IMHO, Bohm needs to be moved out of #4.

It's great to see Rob trying some changes in the lineup.

I also hope that Stott recovers some of his success from two seasons ago and believe there is a solid chance that he can. Still, I think it asks too much of him in the present to move him to leadoff. I'd bat Marsh 8 and Stott 9. If Rojas is in CF, I'd bat Marsh 7, Stott 8, and Rojas 9. Those orders still maximize the impact of Stott's and Rojas's speed, without giving them the most AB on the team, which I believe neither deserves nor will benefit from this season.

Need someone to remind me that spring training and small sample size mean I should not be concerned about how awful Turner, Schwarber, Castellanos, and Marsh all look so far. While acknowledging that Bohm and Kepler have been great!

Walker was throwing 92-93, good movement on his four seamer up in the zone, and two seamer at 92.
Threw splitters, cutters, curves and sweeper, the last got hit and is probably a ST pitch that will be shelved.
The splitter was erratic, a few high, a few that looked good.

Toronto had a pitiful lineup, so I wouldn't read a lot into it, but looks more like the pitcher they signed 2 years ago.

Until he gets his consistent splitter back he runs the risk of being a batting practice pitcher one out of every two or three outings. Hope the splitter comes back.

That may be hard for him to do since he is likely the #6 or 7 starter right now and may not get many opportunities if everyone stays healthy.

I guess you put him in the pen, but I would be very leery of using him in one inning stints because he is usually not sharp right out of the gate and can get hit around.

VfK, I thought I remembered him frequently pitching well for 3 or 4 innings and then getting bombed, but I might be remembering wrong.

In today’s game pretty much every pitcher “gets a chance” in a fairly short period. If he has 6-10 good outings he will no doubt be given higher leverage chances. The sheer number of relievers a team regularly uses makes it almost impossible to bury guys if they pitch ok. You might be able to bury 1 guy if he is horrible, but even that is painful.
