Strahm can be counted on in any situation though. Alvarado will get Nimmo in a key spot. Hopefully Banks doesn't pitch at all but it's not like he wasn't going to make the roster. If Estevez, Hoffman, Ruiz and Kerkering aren't enough RHPs they've got bigger problems than not having Lazar.

It will be interesting to see if Turnbull can get himself into the mix next round since he's kind of the best of both worlds for stuff and length.

It might be Megill after Senga but one would think it's him and Petersen regardless.

Hopefully Banks pitches in every game after we take a 20-0 lead.

Having not pitched for months, I can’t imagine Turnbull is going to make it in time. We have guys that are basically as good, but not rusty. Turnbull was a great story at the start of the season, but he really did drop back to reality before he went out. Certainly he is a guy who will have a shot at next years #5 spot, be an early call up or a long man in the pen, but I think he is done for 2024. Put himself on the map, has a good season, even if cut short.

He should be good for the first start. Not sure I think he will get enough sleep for the starts after this one​

I'm cautiously optimistic. Yes, the Mets are hot, but They have three legitimate offensive stars (prediction: Jose Iglesias will come back to earth unless he's been dealing with Ray Walston). The Phillies arguably have four (including Bohm), and Harper and Schwarber are better than any of the Mets offensively. The Phillies bench is better, too. The Phillies pitching, both starters and relievers, are better. And while the Phillies are not great defensively (though better than the past few years), the Mets aren't very good either. And then there's the home field advantage.

Anything can happen in a short series, but I like our chances.

Turnbull is a free agent at the end of the season. It doesn't seem all that likely that he'll be back with the Phils next season.

Neutral splits R/L, ERA near 2 at home and more than solid down the stretch. I'm more confident than him pitching at Citi.

The Phillies do great in night games this season, but are only a .500 team in day games.

Why do the AL teams get three days off in a 5 games series? Am I reading this wrong? They don’t play today and have off games as they travel.

Obviously it's so there's never an off-day for TV, and the contract must be for the same network (or network group) to have their full broadcast schedule on the same day. Seems counterintuitive. I guess it also makes the next round more fair by keeping all the teams that have to play each other on the same schedule (and get the NL teams an extra day of rest before each of the subsequent rounds).

Maybe it’s always been this way but I don’t remember it. Would be better to start AL a day later and have same format as NL. Then for the next series, give the delay to the NL. Anyway, just seems weird to me. Thanks for the response.

Well "always" is relative with the ever-changing playoff formats and TV deals. But last year the NL was on the schedule that the AL is now. And there probably won't actually be a maximum number of Games 4 and 5.

If the Phils win this series, those players are amazing. Wheels was great, as usual. Just a shame.

Part of me would have preferred Bohm to slam the water cooler in the locker room with a bat to shake things up. A little tension might not be the worst thing to kick some urgency into this group.
