Would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about this series. Mets on some roll.

I was seriously dreading the Braves and DBacks more (and never expected Arizona to fall apart). But now that it's here...

But it's also kind of awesome. I mean, the fact that the two teams have never faced each other in the playoffs is not terribly surprising since that couldn't even happen between 1962 and 1995 and wild card teams also couldn't play their division champ in the NLDS until 2012. But it still didn't happen. The short series makes it feel like they could more easily pull an upset but I would also like our chances in a Game 5 (but would rather not find out).

Small/meaningless sample but they were beating us up when he was out! (Ok not beating us up but those home wins were razor-thin and Acuna was hammering.)

I guess it makes sense that we are always the early game with the various series aligned by league (and the other series on the west coast). Could be a less productive than ideal work week.

It’s huge- whoever wins/loses will be talking about it for the next 30 years- and I mean it’s the fans that will wear it the most. And if one of them gets trounced? Geez, that’s a gut punch that’s not going away for a long long time.

Not saying it wouldn't hurt but I think it would hurt worse for the Mets. We've had more to crow about for past 20 years. I would not want to have gone through what even their 2022 team did.

I think the Phillies are decided underdogs.

It’s always an uncertainty going into these post season series. Every team has been a winner and is capable of winning any given series. We can speculate as to which team is the best to play or the most feared, but regardless, the Phillies have to beat the Mets to move on.

Notice how the Mets big 4 run ninth started. With one out and the Brewers up two runs, a hitter worked a walk. A single set up the 3 runs on the home run and eliminated the Brewers. A HBP put another Met on base and ended up being the 4th run.

If our hitters can cut down swings on non-strikes and our pitchers can issue very few walks, I think they can do very well. It starts tomorrow.

There's no way the Phillies are actually underdogs. In fact they remain the third-favored WS champions, though that is down from second (Yankees have moved up due to the perceived weaker AL field).

Allard gets the last pitching spot over Lazar. Both Clemens and Wilson on the bench.

So in the end they just go with the guy who was already pitching in the bigs (but isn't named Walker).

They wanted length from Allard I guess. It is a really lefty-heavy bullpen though against a right-handed dominant Mets lineup.

Edit - Rojas gets the start over Hays. No surprise since I assume we'll see a LHP after Senga.

Strahm can be counted on in any situation though. Alvarado will get Nimmo in a key spot. Hopefully Banks doesn't pitch at all but it's not like he wasn't going to make the roster. If Estevez, Hoffman, Ruiz and Kerkering aren't enough RHPs they've got bigger problems than not having Lazar.

It will be interesting to see if Turnbull can get himself into the mix next round since he's kind of the best of both worlds for stuff and length.

It might be Megill after Senga but one would think it's him and Petersen regardless.

Hays is probably just a pinch hitter this series if there is a right-handed starter. Mets should have 2 games started by LHPs though so he'll still play a decent amount.
