Alas, Nick will still be here in 2026. Genuinely don't get why they thought he was more valuable/would age better than Schwarber, especially given the timing of when he signed. I guess that is down to Dombrowski's history with him.
Taijuan Walker also signed through 2026.
But if they are going to re-sign both Nola and Wheeler they're going to have to be more proactive for 2025 as this core continues to age (or that core will have to play less).
I'm still not a huge Bohm believer but obviously he is a more than adequate 3B for the salary he makes, and would still be worthy in 2025 if he continues to get better. The flaws in this most recent season can't really be properly assessed due to him moving around the field. I do still think we're grading him on too easy a curve though. Like, he's not better than Cesar Hernandez, and while that was a different situation in terms of where the team was and what else they had, in the end he still wasn't too good to be non-tendered. Also Bohm's 1.1 FWAR this season is lower than Maikel Franco's was in 2018 (and also lower than he provided last year though I assume that is due to playing 1B this year).
In the end Bohm's value is greater to the Phillies than it is in trade which is both good and bad.
Basically, the team's goal is still probably not to win the NL East. They'll have a shot either way but it's not worth shipping off prospects in the off-season (either to replace Nola or offload Castellanos) to try and win 100 games. This could be the year they are more aggressive at the deadline, if they have to be.
