Yeah, pretty much, though the 2021 ESPN park factors show CBP as a pitcher's park.

Stark has thrown that out there. But would he really be any worse than Bohm or Didi (or Franco or Miller or Rodriguez or Asche or...)

We have two glove guys in CF coming through the system who might actually be here late this season (Muzzotti and Rojas). I wouldn't spend a cent on a glove-first (or glove-only) CF right now. Be patient for a year.

Serious question - if the Phillies go get Castellanos, should we be thinking of trading Hoskins and just moving Schwarber to 1B? Hoskins should have some value and even if they only get a prospect return, we might need those prospects to either play or feed deadline deals.

Why would you trade Hoskins and negate the value of improved offense you are counting on by signing Castellanos? That is sort of Klentak trade where one move negates the previous move. Singing Castellanos is a move to create a Murders Row. If you are going to do that, you go with it.

If we trade Hoskins it should be so we can bring in another everyday player. Our lineup right now seems a little light when you consider the DH

Trading Hoskins does not preclude bringing in another bat. It just might be better to spend less on the bat and get some prospects in return.

Remember we are putting together more of a slow pitch softball team than a baseball team here. There can be some concessions to better defense on the roster and to the future needs at the trade deadline (prospects).

There has always been a lot of unconditional Hoskins love out there for a guy who is mediocre defensively and inconsistent offensively. Schwarber at 1B is a good fit. We can still have a good offensive lineup while also paying more attention to defense and pitching.

Not that Hoskins is Keith Hernandez over at 1B, but Schwarber has played all of 5 minutes at fist base, I mean, he threw his hands in the air in celebration for the Red Sox last year when he successfully handled a grounder.

If the Phillies did sign Castellanos, they would have a team that would in many ways be reminiscent of 1993. Not quite as much personality but a team that would outslug everyone while being bad in the field, had a fairly good starting rotation and a taped together bullpen. And, would be on the older side with precious little homegrown. Dang, one can even squint their eyes and see Stott being like Stocker.

Hoskins for a starting pitcher could easily be a next off-season move. Assuming we don't need a 3B or SS (should Stott win up at 2B).

Athletic article on Kingery starting over on his swing. Lord knows what messed him up, but can’t count on anything - give him ABs at AAA and see what happens. However, please play him at 2B, since Didi and Segura are both FA next year so if he turns out to have anything left, it would really benefit the team to have an IF of Kingery & Stott (lots of luck needed for both) and free up almost $30m in the process.

I don’t understand this move for Castellanos. If Bohm doesn’t play better at 3rd, we only have Stott to hope to cover an infield position and a need at potentially 3 spots after this year. We will need 2 infielders, 2 starters, and another whole new bullpen. Meanwhile we're signing every DH type player on the market, despite already having two players who would probably be best at DH, and two others who could use some light days there. If you’re going to go for broke, go after Correa.

If they are willing to go into the tax, would a move for Jose Ramriez or a long term deal for Correa make more sense? I understand there would be a larger commitment to either of those players (and a sizable trade price for Ramirez) but Didis contract comes off the books next year, and Segura could potentially as well so it shouldn't be too difficult to get back under if necessary

Correa has a standing offer of 32 million a year...that is not a number i think they should even think about.

It is a better long term number than close to $25 million for Castellanos. Remember that Didi and Segura come off the books next year and Stott could slot inexpensively into 2B. It might be easier to get under the CBT threshold in 2023 with Correa than with Castellanos because the middle infield openings remain if we only sign Castellanos.
