Trading Hoskins does not preclude bringing in another bat. It just might be better to spend less on the bat and get some prospects in return.
Remember we are putting together more of a slow pitch softball team than a baseball team here. There can be some concessions to better defense on the roster and to the future needs at the trade deadline (prospects).
There has always been a lot of unconditional Hoskins love out there for a guy who is mediocre defensively and inconsistent offensively. Schwarber at 1B is a good fit. We can still have a good offensive lineup while also paying more attention to defense and pitching.
