Where Boras is concerned, there was no one on this site who detested him more. But looking through a rear view mirror oft times gives one perspective on things and I suspect it was Giles/Monty who had the aversion to dealing with Boras than the other way around. Of course this all stemmed from the JD Drew fiasco and to be fair, there were no heroes in that story, all had much to blame.
That said, my sense is that Boras recognizes that Middleton is a guy who A] wants to get things done and B] is willing to spend handsomely to do it. That makes him Boras's new best friend. While I am not necessarily optimistic about getting either Harper or Machado this off season, I think I would rate Harper as the more likely option.
Boras seems to like Middleton, he now has Hoskins as a client, and Hoskins and Harper seem to genuinely respect and like each other. Not to mention that Werth was a Boras client and also had good things to say about Philadelphia.
Look, in the end, money trumps all and Harper and Boras will follow the money but I no longer have involuntary conniptions whenever Boras and the Phillies are mentioned in the same sentence. The Phillies definitely now have a seat at Scott Boras dinner table.
