Are these all eligible for the postseason? That doesn't seem right ...

Just cleaning up 40-man rosters after the minor league season is over. Anyone on the 40 is eligible for the postseason even if the above names are unlikely to be named on the roster.

Some if not all of those guys will now be stashed in Clearwater for emergency usage if they aren't there already.

Interesting. Maybe I'm thinking of something in the past or completely misunderstood, but I thought there was a deadline for playoff roster eligibility. Good to know some of those guys might be available and fresh if need be.

There used to be, but it's been a long time. Right now you just have to be in the organization by 9/1. Technically you also have to be on the 40 by then but any injured player can be replaced by someone who wasn't.

So for instance, Jose Cuas, who became a Phillies on 9/7, is not playoff-eligible. But Mick Abel could be, if they used him to replace (on-paper) Ortiz.
