Not that there isn't merit to a lot of what he has to say, but some real "get off my lawn" stuff too. Sadly the Phillies got no better results from a respected old-school guy than they did from Young (whose issue seemed to be interpersonal skills not his philosophy. Hopefully Cotham has both, but he's certainly the epitome of what Price talks about here).

I don't really see how they did. Eflin had already gotten himself back on track the previous season, Pivetta and Velasquez were the same, he failed to get anything out of our best prospect, and Nola was Nola. The only difference was adding one really talented player and I'm not gonna credit Cotham for his current season either .

Yacksel Rios to the Red Sox.

Ryan Weber took one for the team and earned a DFA because of it. Weber was actually a Phillies draft choice that failed to sign. But his misery was entering the game in the 2nd inning yesterday with the Red Sox trailing 5-0 and giving up 11 runs in 5.2 IP to save the pitching staff in an 18-4 loss. Vlad Jr. is doing to everybody what he did to the Phillies a couple of weeks ago.

I was at Fenway on Saturday, and the Blue Jays were hitting homers all over the place that day, too. Pivetta gave up three in one inning. The Sox designated the pitcher who came in after Pivetta on Saturday, too.

Pivetta trending back toward what he was with the Phillies? His numbers now are not too far off from his "best" season with the Phillies in 2018. Velasquez has had a similar reversion to norm back here.

Thomas Eshelman was recalled by the Orioles and started the game that broke their eight game losing streak. He outpitched the guy he was traded with who’s still with the Phillies. He also outpitched Pivetta, who hasn’t won in June.
