If he gets the Giants gig it will be entirely because of his Dodgers history with the GM, and the GM's comfort with him as an extension of the front office. He would only work in a veterans clubhouse if the players are already accustomed to that kind of set-up (which is why he also got a Cubs interview. But in Ross, the Cubs get the best of both worlds, a suit/front office guy who already has the fan and clubhouse goodwill from his playing days).
Would be ironic if it comes down to Kapler and Espada and Kapler gets the nod because he's more experienced.
Of course if Gabe doesn't get it, he could still be managing the Dodgers in a year or two.
