Interesting note but Jim Peyton reports that the Clearwater Threshers will not renew his press credentials because he is a blogger and the Phillies have instituted a system wide rule against providing press credentials to persons they consider bloggers. I offer this news without offering a position on the decision.

I'll offer a position...Jim does the best coverage of philllies' minor league ball out there. Lots of papers do awful coverage. Give him a darn credential.

Here is a workaround--have some radio station hire him (minimum wage) to do a once-a-week interview segment. Bingo--credentials.

I always thought he was a project that we'd have to wait and see because he wasn't as physically developed as say Trout at the same age - which is why you have to be careful with age comparisons - same hold with many of our LA prospects who physically mature at a different pace.

Now at some point, say 21-22, you've pretty much exhausted physical maturity and either you have the skill package or you don't.

Randolph with a 2R bomb in the top of the 10th to lead Reading to a come from behind win 6-5. Nice win. Medina pitched well but wasn't helped by the defense. Dohy pitched the last 3 innings to get the win.

Bohm with the 0-2 and then yanked from the game. I can’t understand how Almaraz could keep his job if Bohm ends up a flop after blowing so many premium picks. Hopefully Bohm picks it up and makes it a moot point.

Almaraz doesn't make these picks himself. I think the job is more adminstrative than evaluative. But regardless, certainly by the Bohm pick, the scouting apparatus, the analytics and the input of Klentak and other high-level people should have all been on the same page. Everybody's responsible.

I was out at the game in Lakewood but unfortunately have little to offer from a baseball standpoint since I was attending a birthday party (mine!) in an upstairs suite. I saw very, very little of the game itself.

What I can add is that, much like in Philly, it was a miserable night to play baseball....or watch it outside. There might have been 100 people in the stands.

I don't know why Bohm left early. Perhaps they just got him out of there due to the poor conditions, or maybe he wasn't feeling well. Just in looking at the box score, there doesn't appear to be an obvious reason he was taken out (HBP, immediately after a fielding play, etc.). He left for a defensive replacement at the start of the 5th inning, after 2 at-bats. His final at-bat was in the 3rd inning.

Bohm has the tools, body, and power worthy of a premium pick. Not everyone can make the necessary adjustments, but if any of the Phils last 4 picks has a chance to be an impact bat, it’s Bohm. I would be curious to know if they started to work on his swing over the winter or waited until the spring.
