Dickerson is almost exactly Jay Bruce, just a little younger. I have to think this is a sign that Bruce is not doing well, which, given how he reacted when he got hurt seems reasonable (it was clearly a core muscle strain in his ribs, those take forever to heal).
Nice pickup for nothing (or near it), but we need pitching help that isnt just claiming other teams fodder. We need a solid starter or a couple solid relievers, without that I dont see us managing to compete this year. Klentak has been great at the "pick this guy up for nearly nothing" the last 12 months, but he needs one more move today that isnt in that mold.
Dickerson has very strange stats this year, very little power but an abnormally high rate of doubles that make his slugging look great. I doubt 1 double / 7 ABs is sustainable (actually, I know it isnt) but hopefully he can keep his numbers fairly high by returning to a more career normal HR rate.
Dickerson has also had a strange fielding record. He won a Gold Glove last year, and it was fairly well justified statistically. The oddity of that is he has been a below average fielder most years including this year.
