Indeed. Still suprised it was unanimous. I would have thought the Giants would have cast a symbolic no vote to earn some goodwill with East Bay baseball fans, especially if the vote was fait accompli. The Orioles voted no on the Washington Senators' move from DC.

Wheeler was an underrated candidate this year. He got off to a slower start while Gallen had a great one. He was the ASG starter. Playoffs irrelevant but had Wheeler done what he did out of the gate (and the Phillies too) he might have won it, definitely top 3.

He's under contract for $5.5 million this year and the Braves can keep him at $7.25 and 7.5 million for the next two.

Bummer has some potential, but I see this clearing a bunch of 40 man spots or rule 5 eligible. Shuster and Soroka go into the Sox rotation.

Rule 5 deadline has already passed. For sure it's deceptive to look at it as some kind of heist for the White Sox but Bummer has been good 3 or 4 seasons out of the last five and is controlled for another three so that's a lot of value. Like trading for Alvarado, basically (and more valuable than Soto who is both not as good and much closer to free agency). Obviously the Braves liked his FIP and viewed this year as an outlier or unlucky.
