But we didn't enjoy it.

Well it takes 32 pitches from Kennedy tonight, but he gets the save. Results count and he did the job, but his performance tonight has to cause concern about his future outings.

Just enough hitting to score the four runs and just enough pitching to hold the O's to three runs. A win and the Phillies take the series. Nice pinch hit double from Miller and the two run home run by McCutchen fire the offense tonight. Huge outfield assist for Harper in nailing the potential tying run at the plate.

Hanging in. Pirates coming to town for four.

With a bullpen game every fifth day, Girardi has to patch together a plan for the late innings based on who’s available. That’s why Neris is so valuable right now, since he can often pitch effectively several days in a row. But I guess he wasn’t available tonight. Kudos to Kennedy for hanging on tonight after throwing 30 pitches the night before.

Right now I would say Neris is throwing the ball better and probably should go back to closing, but Girardi probably thinks he should be used in the late inning with the tougher part of the lineup, being, the 7th, 8th or 9th.

I know hes not great.... but is Matt Moore dead??? Hasnt pitched since the 16th. Has only 3 appearances in September for a total of 5 innings.

The bullpen games should be Medina and Falter and Moore so you arent blowing out the people you need the other 4 games.

It's possible he's banged up or something. But if Falter is one of our "chunk" relievers (in the bullpen game or otherwise) that means Moore is our second lefty so maybe the match-up simply hasn't presented itself. Just remember you asked this when he either 1) pitches badly Sunday or 2) Has to get Freddie Freeman out

Second time in the last few days they have gotten 3 pitches or less out of Alvarado. Girardi needs to realize he is pitching well now and should not be wasted on 1-batter outings all the time.

Matt Moore, who is tasked with providing length during the bullpen games, injured his back on a swing during batting practice Wednesday afternoon. He was in obvious pain and never made it to the bullpen during the game. The Phillies could swap him for Cristopher Sánchez, who is scheduled to start for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday.

Kinda amazing that the Phillies are even hesitating about replacing a pitcher not suited for a bullpen role with an injury with a healthy replacement arguably as good as the injured pitcher is even when healthy.

Right? They probably didn't have time last night but can they really afford to give Moore a couple of days if he's not available? I guess if there's a doubleheader they get the extra man.

They should really cut Joyce too. For a pitcher, or almost anyone (Maton, Marchan, Haseley) else if they really want the bat.

With bullpen games we are giving the pitcher at most 1 AB. So an extra pinch hitter on the bench would be helpful. Of course that means we need more 2 and 3 inning outings from the pitching staff if we do not carry the extra pitcher.

I'm just saying if their intent is to keep Moore on the roster for the next couple of days with the expectation that he'll heal, rather than ending his season, they might want to swap a bat for an arm in the meantime. Of course if they really need that extra arm in Nola or Gibson's starts (or even in a doubleheader) we've probably got bigger problems.
