Phillies all-time record in WS game 1's is now 6-2, believe it or not. Then 2-5 in game 2. Games 3 & 4 have been troublesome, 1-6 all-time in each (only game 3 & 4 wins came in 2008). That's a big part of the reason we've only won the WS twice. Gotta really beat some history now! In game 5's, they are 4-2 and in game 6's 1-2.

Looking back at Ranger's appearance I guess they must have originally thought he'd face Alvarez and Alvarez only? But then they sent him back out there.

I think they planned to have Ranger face Tucker all along. I’d want my best lefty left facing him after what he did earlier.

Can't hurt if the Astros start thinking that Dusty will indeed never win a title and that Verlander will fail in the WS or that they could lose to another underdog team from the NL East.

I think they planned 3 batters all along. Most likely they are also penciling him in for only 60-70 pitches again when he starts. The 68 I think last time was intentional.

well, it may be the post-game reporting that is shaky - the notion that he ever went longer than planned, as well as the question of whether they might flip his start (I mean, Thomson said they'll see how he feels but we know he's taking the ball unless something is obviously wrong). 11 pitches at game pressure, is probably like 30 in a bullpen session which would be normal right?

Thomson said in his postgame presser that the up and down in between innings is what made it more than what they wanted to subject Suarez to in game #1.

I'm just enjoying the fact that Thomson and Cotham are more forthright about their pre-game process. They're not gonna give away every strategy and match-up plan, but Girardi was tightlipped and Kapler's group didn't actually seem to know what they were doing. Suarez knew he was probably going to pitch in advance, both times.

This might be a good time to tell Castellanos that Neris' best pitch is NOT a strike. Ever.

Castellanos made me so mad during that at bat. Neris didn’t throw a single strike.Dont swing. He never throws strikes!
