He was not MIA, he made several high level defensive plays all thru the series that saved runs and had two hits last night as well as a big 2B in Game 2.

The guy has made huge leaps at 3B and is a more reliable hitter this season too. Hopefully, be keeps growing as a player, but he is one of the last guys I criticize tonight.

Congratulations to the Diamondbacks. They clearly outplayed the Phillies and deserve going to the World Series.

Like last season, the last wildcard moves on to the WS. The Phillies had a good run but finally hit the slump while Arizona continued to play well.

I did not think Arizona could win both games coming back to Philadelphia, but they did it. Well done by them.

Time to start the hot stove and plan for 2024.

Pretty pathetic showing the last two games and really 4 of the last 5. Game 4 was the difference maker to me. Fun year but a disappointing way to end it.

The issue that inning was Nick not putting the ball in play when we had them on the ropes and also probably our 3B coach not being aggressive and sending Stott. Think our coaches started managing things not to lose instead of to take it to the other team but at the same time the bats didn’t help them out at all.

I'm usually the last person to blame relief pitching because relief pitching isn't reliable, but theirs was, and if not for Kimbrel Phils win this in four or five. And then neither the bats nor Nola were up to it. Wheeler was.

Dombrowski deserves criticism for failing to add bullpen help at the Deadline. His fingerprints are on this failure.

The Diamondbacks aren't that homegrown. Gallen's on his third team. Kelly was drafted by Tampa and went to Korea. Walker, Marte, Gurriel, Pham, Longoria all not homegrown. Yeah, some of the others are but Phillies have plenty too (albeit more on pitching side and with Hoskins on IL).

Besides, turns out you don't even need to win 85 games and you can make the World Series. Phillies are gonna need to do some things to have sustained regular season success for years to come but when you make the World Series and the NLCS two years in a row (and at the expense of the Braves, Mets, Dodgers, Cardinals, Brewers, Padres) you're still doing it mostly right.

But he whiffed big on the Lorenzen trade (which was supposed to be strengthen the pen too). And while Maton and Vierling are not great losses Soto was a failed acquisition too if you couldn't trust him in October.

I like Bohm, emotionally. I still don't think he's that good, intellectually, I'm not inclined to do it to night but I'd be surprised if those impressive-looking plays he made were actually considered anything a competent 3B doesn't make routinely. We're still grading him on a curve (though the DRS and DWAR certainly isn't).

McGarry? He's a nothing now. You couldn't trade him for a #3 catcher.

still our #5 prospect and at the trade deadline he was still having a great season in Reading. He's still worth more than that too. It's hard to believe he was mentioned as last year's Kerkering at the time though.

A couple of managerial decisions I hated: allowing Rojas to bat with the bases loaded, given his highest pitch count of post-season allowing Sanchez to pitch to a batter who was already 2-2 against him. The Lorenzen trade looked great. He was in good position to be a starter/reliever and pitch superbly for us. He simply was not a guy who should throw 121 pitches in a game. After that game he was no longer a good pitcher for us.

After going up 2-0, this NLCS was a major disappointment. The Diamondback pitching adjusted and stifled us.

It still was a good season for the Phillies. This was/is a stronger Phillies team than last season, even if they didn't advance to WS. It reminds me of the post-2008 teams, which got progressively stronger and left the playoffs earlier and earlier. That ended in a decade of no winning record seasons. I certainly hope that doesn't repeat. That is likely the rest of my lifetime. They have some major off-season decisions to make. T

We still finished as one of the last 4 standing. 26 other teams didnt get to play in the LCS. 26 other fan bases didnt get the chance to see a thrilling series, even if we lost.

I thank this team for giving us the entertainment this year. For Schwarbombs and no hitters, for Standing Ovations and improbably fast comebacks from TJ surgery. For infuriating us and giving us the highs and lows.

The loss HURTS bad.. but the last 2 years we have been blessed with a Red October. And we do have an owner that cares and wants to see the team go all the way and not just worry about profit.

Ill take this loss in the LCS anytime over the doldrums we had from 2012-2021.

Teams go cold.. players go cold.. they are human no matter how much they make. We went cold at the wrong time but Im still glad we got to see this team try.
